Bhatura King Hicksville — Restaurant in Town of Oyster Bay

Disappointing Food + Deceptive Surcharges :

Noticed this new place popped up in Hicksville and decided to give it a try. Having such a narrow menu - 4 items! - is courageous and normally indicative of being really good at something. Unfortunately that was not the case here.

We ordered all 4 items. The Papri Chaat was super bland, and the papri used was too thick (more like matthi) - an atrocity for $12. But the Khasta Kachori was worse - basically a kachori submerged in a nearly tasteless Aloo sabzi.

Then the Kulche Chole was the worst of the evening. The kulchas were quite odd (more like a flatbread version of an English muffins than kulchas I've had anywhere else...). They were, however, edible, unlike their accompanying "chole" - which was actually a bland brown mush (think Pav Bhaji but devoid of anything good) with some sort of aftertaste. Absolutely terrible.

The Chole Bhature was the least terrible item - chole were average, and the bhature were acceptable. Just nowhere near the quality level one would expect for a restaurant named after that one item.

Service was limited - no menus, disposable to-go cutlery, and just one step up from counter service - yet the place commands full-service restaurant prices.

Later, we realized Bhatura King had surreptitiously applied a 4% markup to every item (presumably for using a credit card) -- which was disclosed neither in writing anywhere in the restaurant nor verbally -- and then charged sales tax on the surcharge. This is deceptive and also illegal in...

Worst Experience Ever At Bhatura King Hicksville. I visited on Friday, Aug 15, 2025, at around 2:12 PM and paid $13.52 for a plate of chaat. The staff was unprofessional and unhygienic -- the waiter and cashier were glued to their phones, putting fingers in their mouths while handling food. The chaat was a sad, half-empty plate with barely any ingredients. Crappy taste, zero value for money. I strongly recommend avoiding this place. My money was completely wasted, and I'm not even sure yet whether I'll end up with a stomach upset.

Yesterday we visit the restaurant for dinner purpose. Also we ordered 6 chole bhature,1 khasta kachori along with one mango lassi and two buttermilk. According to menu the total charge in my perspective is around 113 USD, but they charged us 145.** USD while we are doing payment.

Also they did not clarified what they overcharged. Furthermore they are serving food in disposable cutlery and tables are outside kitchen, so service is not a concern.

Aa far as taste is concerned, they served khasta kachori with alo subji which was again a surprise for us.
