House of Donuts Inc — Restaurant in Town of Oyster Bay

This place has an old school shop vibe, with the pink decor, old fashion seats up at the grill, to the vintage looking menu board up on top. That being said the price is anything but vintage with a dine in experience that accurately reflects the current inflation bubble. The glazed donuts and the blueberry donuts are my personal favorites, but they carry even the specialty bowtie pastries which have been discontinued at Dunkin for a while now. While I'm happy to come support this shop instead of a larger franchise with subpar donuts, the prices have increased over the past few years quite alot making this place less affordable. That being said the donut and coffee are still quite delicious. My only complaint would be that the grill used for the homefries is the same grill used to cook bacon, so the bacon fat and grease may seep into the homefries. While that may be an add on for customers, for some other customers who cannot eat pork or meat this is not a safe practice. I would not reccomend the grill items for those specific customers for that reason. I would also ask management if possible to change this practice for that reason. The food is good, but wow is the service horrible. They hide a 30 percent up charge. Which is absolutely disgusting. They try to play it off as tax, but tax is 8.625%. So a 7$ sandwich should be 7.61 not 9.88 for One bec. Even the owner was shell shocked that his sandwiches were coming out to 8-9$. When you use a card max you get charged with 3% and its supposed to be listed somewhere … which its not. So im not sure if there just giving themselves 20% gratuity (takeout) on top of the card up-charge or just flat out overcharging me. Best Homemade Donuts around! Made fresh all day. Love love love the Crullers marble glazed abd plain!, The Jelly, Boston cream, Bavarian cream and so many more flavors are delicious!! They also have linzer tarts and buns. You get an old school vibe in this luncheonette..skip dunkin doughnuts it's worth a drive for that homemade feel & taste! Prices are very fair..This place has a nostalgic look that I love and remember, sadly you do not see luncheonettes like this around anymore. They also make a great breakfast, grilled cheese, egg sandwiches, lunches and good cup of coffee. Amazing owners and workers here.
