McDuff's Pub — Restaurant in Town of Potsdam

Never cared for this place but it’s where everyone went. It’s gotten slightly better in the last few years, not sure if management changed or what but they’re bar staff used to be horrific to the point of dangerous. They used to employ college girls, a group of sorority chicks in particular ages 18-21+ that would get incredibly sloppy-drunk. Over serving, over charging, wrong orders at the bar then your usual college crowd problems. One of their bouncers loved to use what little authority he had any chance he got. He claimed one of my buddies who was 22 was using an ID that wasn’t his (picture was him aged 16 so 6 yrs younger) and it was Halloween so he was dressed as something can’t remember but my buddy argued a little nothing aggressive and answered all the questions including zodiac symbol- idk mine even- and bouncer denied entry we said ok but wouldn’t give buddy ID back buddy tried grabbing it, not fast or aggressively mins you and this dude grabbed buddy shoulders leans back and full force head butts my buddy split his eyebrow open and bloody nose. Wish we Videod encounter def would’ve taken action. Funny thing is the same bouncer we bought shots the night before and he sold us a nickel bag! Haven’t seen him in 4-5 years and staff seem like actual staff nowadays. Guessing the boozehound owner or manager whoever the guy was that got smashed w his staff- bet he’s not around hence...

Continuing my journey through Potsdam eateries after watching Clarkson Women’s hockey, stopped at McDuff’s for the first time. Place is kind of oddly laid out. Didn’t really have the cozy Irish pub vibe. More sports bar. Waitress seemed to on her own with a decent sized crowd which slowed service some.

The Buffalo Chicken Poutine app was huge and had a very unique flavor. It had a bit of a kick to it, so if you don’t like hot (spicy) food you may want to pass on this one. I enjoyed my signature Reuben, however the fries weren’t good. Kind of soggy. Grease might need to be changed.

They have a few televisions on the wall with various sporting events on and a couple of electric...

While living in Potsdam for the summer, I've checked out McDuff's a few times - for Stanley Cup hockey and weekly Wing Night. I've enjoyed every visit and can recommend them to you!

A very clean and friendly village tavern overall. I can now expect cheery and friendly service from the bar, especially Brittany. The wings are very good and I have liked every sauce I have had. Coming from Western NY, I am a bit of a wing snob, and I have not been disappointed. The homemade blue cheese is tasty. They tend to serve it room temp, which I am not a fan of, but it isn't necessarily bad.
