Thrifting inside one of America’s oldest buildings feels different. I come back to the Beekman Arms Antique Market at least once a year two floors of history, jewelry, vintage Christmas decor, and the most beautiful depression and milk glass. This was also my boyfriend’s first time here, and watching him discover pieces he never expected was part of the magic. Same place, same soul, always new treasures. #AntiqueMarket #ThriftingFinds #VintageDecor #ChristmasThrift #RhinebeckNY 🕯️🤍🎄🕰️🪞✨️

I had a booth at an antique center in the late 1990's and all of the dealers had to work a shift. But we didn't hover over customers and follow them around like they were thieves. I don't know if this one woman was a dealer but she was very rude - she followed us so closely that I could practically feel her breath on my back. They do have a nice and eclectic selection of antiques and vintage pieces displayed with flair. I couldn't pass up a very unusual handcrafted masonic wall hanging that I think is made of sterling silver. When I asked the lady at the front whether there was an up charge for credit cards, she sarcastically said, not for you! I think this was a legitimate question since many shops do charge a small fee if you use a credit card. She didn't answer me when I asked, what do you mean?

Stopped in whole visiting Rhinebeck for my partners birthday, very cool store, she very much enjoyed walking around. It's a large space with several rooms all filled with merchandise. Quality and price vary widely so if your looking for a serious piece, or just a basic momento, worth stopping in. Being shadowed by staff at every step in a less than curtious way takes a star off - but I imagine theft is probably an annoying issue in such a large store.

RUDE STAFF AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

I've visited this market a number of times and admired their collection. My husband and I have spent hundreds of dollars on glassware, vases and other unique objects. However, after my last visit, I am never going back.

The women who run the shop profile every customer. They follow you around the store and have an attitude if you ask questions. Why bother selling products if you're going to be rude about it?

The last time I visited I saw a scarf in Nancy's booth right before closing time. I left without buying it, but called them back the following day asking if they could ship it to me (happy to cover the shipping cost). Nancy could have declined the sale but agreed while giving me a nasty attitude, like I was inconveniencing her because I wanted to buy her product...

She should pay a little more attention to her negativity and making sure to properly hang up after a phone call.

After I gave my credit card information, I could hear her in the background mocking me, saying it was my fault for not purchasing the item sooner, my husband should have pressured me to buy it and complaining that I'm the reason she has to pay more in taxes buying it over the phone than in-store. She said I had been in the store "long enough" and should have bought it then.

She could have easily declined. When I called her back, telling her I heard everything she said, she had no remorse and again berated me for not buying the scarf when I was in the store.

Completely disrespectful and terrible customer service. Will not be returning and hope this saves future customers from a...

Very rude staff. The oldest lady there never greeted me but only told me to “put my coffee down”. I told her politely that my cup was empty and asked if there was a bin I could toss it in. After I explained that, she rolled her eyes at me with no response. I should’ve walked out then! The Second Lady complained that their trash bin is always full of cups. Like, ladies- if you have a policy where people can’t have drinks in your shop, what do you expect? Rhinebeck is a walking town and people walk around drink in hand. Of course your bin is going to be full. Walking out of the shop, I overheard them complaining about customers and their drinks. Terrible attitude but ok selection of antiques. It’s a very snooty vibe and even though I found some nice things, I don’t want to give my business to people that treat customers that way. It’s a shame, it’s...

On May 24 I visited Beekman Antiques for the first time in several years. I was browsing when an woman came toward me asking if I wanted to purchase an item near me. I said I did not. There were several other people browsing, in addition to a few employees or vendors who were chatting together intermittently. A few minutes later I noticed the same woman standing near me fiddling with a display. I then went upstairs and soon noticed her again casually arranging another display. I realized she was following me, probably hoping to catch me stealing. I have never been treated so rudely in such an ostensibly classy store. I assume it was because I am black and not their usual clientele. I was offended and humiliated. I will never "darken" their premises again, and will pass the word on to everybody I know -...
