RUDE STAFF AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
I've visited this market a number of times and admired their collection. My husband and I have spent hundreds of dollars on glassware, vases and other unique objects. However, after my last visit, I am never going back.
The women who run the shop profile every customer. They follow you around the store and have an attitude if you ask questions. Why bother selling products if you're going to be rude about it?
The last time I visited I saw a scarf in Nancy's booth right before closing time. I left without buying it, but called them back the following day asking if they could ship it to me (happy to cover the shipping cost). Nancy could have declined the sale but agreed while giving me a nasty attitude, like I was inconveniencing her because I wanted to buy her product...
She should pay a little more attention to her negativity and making sure to properly hang up after a phone call.
After I gave my credit card information, I could hear her in the background mocking me, saying it was my fault for not purchasing the item sooner, my husband should have pressured me to buy it and complaining that I'm the reason she has to pay more in taxes buying it over the phone than in-store. She said I had been in the store "long enough" and should have bought it then.
She could have easily declined. When I called her back, telling her I heard everything she said, she had no remorse and again berated me for not buying the scarf when I was in the store.
Completely disrespectful and terrible customer service. Will not be returning and hope this saves future customers from a...
Read moreVery rude staff. The oldest lady there never greeted me but only told me to âput my coffee downâ. I told her politely that my cup was empty and asked if there was a bin I could toss it in. After I explained that, she rolled her eyes at me with no response. I shouldâve walked out then! The Second Lady complained that their trash bin is always full of cups. Like, ladies- if you have a policy where people canât have drinks in your shop, what do you expect? Rhinebeck is a walking town and people walk around drink in hand. Of course your bin is going to be full. Walking out of the shop, I overheard them complaining about customers and their drinks. Terrible attitude but ok selection of antiques. Itâs a very snooty vibe and even though I found some nice things, I donât want to give my business to people that treat customers that way. Itâs a shame, itâs...
Read moreOn May 24 I visited Beekman Antiques for the first time in several years. I was browsing when an woman came toward me asking if I wanted to purchase an item near me. I said I did not. There were several other people browsing, in addition to a few employees or vendors who were chatting together intermittently. A few minutes later I noticed the same woman standing near me fiddling with a display. I then went upstairs and soon noticed her again casually arranging another display. I realized she was following me, probably hoping to catch me stealing. I have never been treated so rudely in such an ostensibly classy store. I assume it was because I am black and not their usual clientele. I was offended and humiliated. I will never "darken" their premises again, and will pass the word on to everybody I know -...
