My biggest gripe was how much they kept trying to push their stupid tablets. They kept encouraging us to order food/drinks with their tablets, pay the bill with their tablets, and register my personal information for exclusive offers account using their tablets. I came here to eat and socialize, not spend my time with my face in a tablet.
I came with a friend at a busy time (3PM on a Saturday). The wait for a table wasn't long, but the table they had available was very small. There was hardly any room for our food with all the condiments and the stupid tablet. Our server seemed more focused on showing us the tablet than actually taking our order or explaining what makes Red Robin special as we did state it was our first time going. Apparently what makes it special is their stupid tablets and mediocre food.
Their menu had a lot of burgers and sides on it, which all looked very tasty. I went with a smokey pepper burger on a ciabatta bun and my friend went for a sunny side up burger. Their options were "pink or no pink" instead of "how would you like that cooked?" as most other places would ask.
The food and drinks came out pretty quickly, so no complaints there. However the burgers and steak fries were nothing special. My ciabatta bun was pretty dry and the bacon they used was that pre-cooked thin stuff. The fries were good and the seasoning they had was good too. However $24 for a burger, fries, and one beer seemed kind of steep.
The decorations and atmosphere seemed a lot like Milwaukee Burger or Buffalo Wild Wings. I can see this as another hang out spot for sports fans or people looking for a more high-energy place.
I would probably come back here again if my friends wanted to as it isn't terrible, but I would much prefer another burger place if given the choice. Wausau has a lot of places to eat, and this one doesn't bring anything too spectacular to the table given the other choices.
Oh, and I played plants vs zombies on their tablet which was fun and distracting, however upon playing with the tablet after paying my bill I saw it was locked out since I already paid and it said something like "unlock unlimited games for $1.99. I am not sure, but I think they charged us for playing a game on their tablets,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeen here a few times...wasn't impressed with my experiences at all and neither were the people with whom I've been here.
This place is TINY. Even when there are hardly any other people eating here, the tables are so small & crowded that you're unable to move your arms, hands, and feet more than an inch in any direction (and I'm a skinny person). The burgers are only allowed to be cooked "some pink or no pink", which is sacrilege for a so-called burger establishment in WI where most people enjoy their burgers cooked medium. Even when you order "some pink" the burgers are always burnt to a crisp because the cooks apparently have no idea how to cook. The fries are flavorless even when you add a ton of Red Robin seasoning to them at your table and they become very soggy after a minute of arriving to your table.
The prices are also pretty outrageous. For a table of 2 with both people ordering a burger & drink, expect to pay upwards of $40 when including a tip. That's ridiculous for the quality of the food (and service) you receive. Speaking of service, every server always seems completely lost and it takes forever to receive your order even when this place isn't busy. The managers also seem extremely unapproachable.
My advice? Go to places in the area that actually have good burgers at reasonable prices such as Brews Brothers, Hiawatha, Treu's Tic Toc, and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place is absolutely filthy.chunks of who-knows-what all over the bathroom door, the purse hook, the mirrors, and the entire floor was just covered with junk. There was a crate full of dirty dishes and ketchup bottle sitting out in the open on the floor by the bar. I came in and waited for 5 minutes for anyone to recognize that I was there. several empty tables were covered with food debris. Fortunately, we walked to the bathroom before or during, and we walk right back out the front door. I told the hostess about our reason for leaving and, very defensively, she said it was because they were busy. I told her that wasn't an excuse, I've been in restaurant jobs my whole life and this was definitely a sign of a poor manager and a lazy staff. I should have known better since the last time we were here, a year ago while passing through town, we ended up getting my burger comped because I was served a glutton bun when I ordered gluten-free, and when I pointed it out to the waitress she told me I was lying, slammed my plate back on the table when I handed it to her, and then when I asked to get the manager, she screamed, literally screamed to the point where everyone in the restaurant turned around, and swore at me on her way to get a manager. We love Red Robin in Appleton and in Green Bay, but don't bother going to the Wausau one. Disgusting and...
