My fiance and I purchased a very nice Broyhill furniture set and mattress from Slumberland a little over 2 years ago. We were very happy with our purchase. Unfortunately I think the protection plan they offer is a borderline scam. I didn't realize when we purchased the 5 year protection plan that it was through a 3rd party that I now have come to find has horrible reviews. Recently one of our nightstands got water damage after a humidifier had leaked. When I contacted Slumberland to see what I could do, they directed me to GBS Enterprises. After several phone calls, submitting pictures of the damage and speaking with multiple representatives, I was told they couldn't help fix the damage because there were surface scratches on the nightstand. Yes, we've had it for over 2 years. It is no longer flawless. We set things on it, like phone charges and water bottles, as most people do. We have cats that occasionally jump onto them. So yes there are some slight surface scratches. Nothing that bothered us enough to report because they weren't noticeable unless you were inspecting the furniture. GBS said that with this protection plan after every incident occurs I should've called to file a claim. So after every single time it got slightly scratched I should've filed a claim... I find this plan unrealistic for almost everyone. If you have children or pets or you occasionally bump your furniture with anything then this protection plan is a complete joke. Most people aren't noticing surface level scratches accumulating on their furniture. Again, if you have kids or pets or set things on your furniture there is bound to be wear and tear. This 5 year protection plan was almost $300 and I'm now seeing how it was a complete waste of money. To me, it doesn't matter if my furniture goes through some wear and tear and ends up getting some surface scratches and dings in it, it's inevitable. But the fact that I can't get my nightstand fixed after an isolated incident is extremely disappointing. Now my nightstand looks terrible and there is no covering the damaged spot and there is nothing I can do. I'm just very frustrated by the whole thing. Again, the furniture set is nice but going forward I will no longer purchase warranties or protection plans for furniture knowing what I know now. I just don't understand why a reputable company that sells higher quality product, such as Slumberland, would even work with a company like GBS Enterprises and choose to sell their...
Read moreI'm extremely upset, I paid for a couch in full with cash.I was told I would receive my couch in 3 weeks. After not hearing anything regarding my delivery, "I" called Slumberland to be informed that the couch is no longer in stock. That it cannot be ordered nor should it have been at the time of my purchase...I arranged to have the 3rd week off from my job for delivery and had company coming to stay and help me, as I just moved.I was told that it would be an additional $100 to bring in my couch..the delivery people are on an hourly wage, they won't see that $100..so I arranged for help , I recently was on crutches as well, so I needed the help. I was then informed that the sales person, John Buerger who sold me the couch was the person I had to talk to about this was not in until Friday..2 days from today..no one else obviously can help rectify this situation.I have been a business owner for 23 years in wausau and I'm well aware of customer service and how to implement it for the customer satisfaction. Not happy...since I posted this review, it took a total of 10 weeks to get my couch that was sitting in the ware house in North Dakota..I was the one who made 4 trips and numerous phone calls to slumberland, no one there ever pursued contacting me as a customer..not once..when asked for a rating on service I told them what I thought....here's what's disturbing, after 2 weeks on a Sunday night at 730 pm the owner Jessie started texting me about the review I gave and literally gaslighting me..he threatened to come and get my couch the next morning!!!!!!!!!! I was floored at the insane behavior !!!!!!!!!! WHO DOES THIS???? I can see why the parking lit is always empty...BUYERS...
Read moreWhile the customer service reps that have helped me and spoken to me on the phone have been pleasant and polite, my experience with slumberland has been terrible. The only reason I decided to purchase the bed and couch for my first apartment from slumberland was because I was promised, both in person and through email, by the employee who helped me in store that I would have BOTH items in the time frame I needed them - which was 3 weeks from then. I could have bought my furniture elsewhere, but because of this promise, I chose slumberland. Only after my purchases, as a broke college student who doesn’t have any money to spare, do I find out that actually my couch and headboard can’t be delivered until 2-3 weeks after I need it, and that they never put in the order for my mattress. Because I wouldn’t have my bed, let alone any furniture at all, in my first apartment, I had to delay moving in for a week. So because of slumberland I am paying rent for an apartment I can’t even inhabit right now. Finally it’s ONE day before I can move in and have at least my bed, and slumberland calls me and tells me my couch will be at least another month out, and my bed will be at least another week. I understand that slumberland doesn’t produce their own furniture, that they get it from a distributor, but I feel scammed. I have hardly any money as a college student, and its devastating to have wasted what I did have because an employee lied to me. Having my apartment put together is CRITICAL because school is online, and slumberland expects me to sleep and do schoolwork on the floor while they have my money. Do not spend your money here if you want to actually receive the items...
