My fiancee and I are locals who have frequented senior taco since long before they came to wading river. Tonight we had the "pleasure" of speaking with the proprietor of the establishment, gerard, and sadly, it will be our last visit. My fiancee found clear plastic shards on her meal. We called and notified senior taco of the problem. Their employee, Sean, was very apologetic and went above and beyond to try to resolve the issue immediately. He offered to replace the meal or refund the cost of that item. We only live 5 minutes away, so we said we would come back for the refund.. We arrived and sean gave us the cost of the fajita back... at this point we are thinking it's an honest mistake and they did what they could to make good on the ruined meal. We were wrong.... as we pulled away, sean came running out and flagged us down. He explained that the owner had said not to give us the money back and that he was supposed to get it from us.. it was clear that he was uncofortable at this point, because he had done the right thing, but now his boss was telling him to get the money back. He said that he would be happy to take the money out of his own pocket to keep us as customers.. but that was not going to be ok with me.. I'm not taking money out of some poor working kids pocket because his boss doesn't value his customers... I asked to speak with the owner.. I was put on the phone with Gerard who claimed to be the owner. I explained the situation and told him how sean had indeed done the right thing in refunding that item. And that Seans actions would have saved a custimer.. Gerard disagreed.. He went on a rant about how we are likely liars trying to get a free fajita.. raving madly about how HE'S A CHEF, A BUSINESS OWNER 40 YEARS IN BUSINESS, HE KNOWS HOW TO HANDLE HIS CUSTOMERS... Well Gerard, your 40 years of experience in customer service has taught you one thing for sure, how to loose a customer and loose a local customer base very quickly... We gave the money back to Sean because I would have felt uneasy about him loosing that from his pay.. We left without any refund, any credit, or any intention of returning... shoreham wading river is a family community, an honest community, a close knit community, the type of place that values kindness and respect between residents and business' alike... I think senior taco may be better off in another area where people don't mind being called liars over a fajita... DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS PLACE. MESQUITE IS 3 MINUTES AWAY AND HAS MUCH BETTER FOOD...
Read moreFood was really delicious but the service was awful. We first sat outside but then decided to come in when it seemed like the server had forgot about us. We decided not to say anything about that since we were excited to try some place new. When we came in we ordered our appetizer (chips and salsa) which came out with our entree. Not only that but my fiancés entree order was wrong. They DID apologize and brought my fiancé the right order which was really appreciated but they didn’t show great hospitality and I felt like most of them were annoyed that we mentioned their mistake. You would think that would be the end of it but they actually messed up our dessert too, I saw the server about to come out of the kitchen with it and then another employee stopped them and reminded them that we were supposed to have ice cream with our churros, we ordered two ice creams but only got one. Again decided it wasn’t worth it to say anything. Our finished plates sat on the table for the entire duration of the meal, the server did not pick up the plates till after we paid the check. My fiancé who was a server for years said this was some of the worst service he ever seen or encountered. The only reason I wasn’t completely pissed was because we really enjoyed the food! So to the manager, get your employees in check. The restaurant has way more potential, as you are serving delicious food. It seemed like the place was being run by a bunch of kids who were too distracted by socializing with each-other rather than servicing their guests properly. There was one other person physically in the restaurant, it wasn’t too busy for someone to stop by a minute or two after we started eating to ask how we were enjoying the food, or ask us if we would like some more water. So many little things that the servers could have done to make our experience there better. Not sure that we will be back to endure that awful service again, also to be honest when it seems like people are annoyed in a restaurant it makes me nervous about what happens to my food while I can’t see it. So if you’re thinking of trying this place it may be best to just do a...
Read moreDO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE VEGAN!!! I am vegan, and on 3 orders prior to the one tonight, I’ve received sour cream or cheese lumped in with my food, making the meals inedible for me. I called to make them aware of what has happened, and spoke with Olivia, who had apologized profusely, then contacted the manager immediately after. She then called me back and told me that that order and the last one were credited to my name. She really did a great job, and stressed how sorry she was for the cooks error, and said she spoke to him about it. I could tell she was truly being sincere and felt terrible. It was honestly because of her and her actions to stress to the cook the importance of dietary restrictions, and speak with the manager so promptly, that I decided to return. Tonight I placed my standard Veggie Fajita, no sour cream, no cheese, and stating I’m vegan. When I came in Olivia had remembered me, and the issues with past orders, and said she had checked the food to make sure it was vegan (seriously, how awesome is she!). Unfortunately, there was beef mixed in with the veggies. She obviously couldn’t go digging around in my food, so she didn’t see it. And to be fair, past orders had sour cream or cheese, so she probably wasn’t looking for beef in a VEGAN dish. A cook should always be cognizant of a customer’s dietary restrictions. An error of combining animal product in a vegan dish should never happen. I do understand that mistakes happen. To have it happen to not 1, not 2, but 4 meals is completely unacceptable and shameful. I should also say that these mistakes happen 4 out of the last 5 times. Not spaced out over a ton of orders. The cook obviously doesn’t give a s#!t about his customers or the food he produces. Never again...
