I’ve been looking for a go to Ecuadorian food spot for a little while now in Westchester. The one I always go to is located in Queens, NY and I eat there whenever I’m in the area.
I came across Don Lucho; it was a short drive to me. At first impression, restaurant looks refreshing, new, clean and friendly.
Now onto the food. I felt it had a lot of the elements of Ecuadorian taste, though lackluster to be honest and staples on their menu you’d like to see when seeking this cuisine. However; I wasn’t a fan of the disparity of portions within the dishes themselves. For example an order of Pollo Ala Plancha (Grilled Chicken); comes with grilled chicken, rice, beans, and salad. You get two solidly cut pieces of chicken, a mountain of rice, but then little to no beans or salad.

Read moreWonderful family owned restaurant. Fantastic Ecuadorian food available in the menu. Pleasant ambiance and good feeling on the decor and the placement of items. Good service and very friendly staff. This little place has a lot of potential, and will not disappoint anyone looking for a good Latin American dish. Great for enjoyment with family and friends. I had the seafood Paella, and it was absolutely delicious. My wife tried the Lomo Saltado (traditional Peruvian dish) and it was absolutely delicious as well. Please note: Desserts are made in house, and they absolutely amazing. I highly recommend their homemade cheesecakes. All in all, this place gets a 5 star review: Great family owned and operated restaurant, with good attention to food and costumers. Looking forward...

A while back, I ordered a batido de tomate de árbol en agua and the waitress (who I’d never seen before) insisted I didn’t order it with water and tried to “educate” me—when I’ve been ordering that drink for years. It felt belittling and unnecessary.
Another time, my friend and I sat at a table for 10 minutes and no one even acknowledged us, even though the place wasn’t busy. We just left.
Yesterday I was charged for someone else’s order. Again, not busy—just careless. And no apology from the waitress. For an 18% service charge, you’d expect better treatment. I’m just tired of giving this place chances. The food doesn’t make up for the lack of...
