This quaint, rustic cafe is definitely worth stopping at to get a high quality, organic meal whether it's for lunch or dinner. They have a curated, well thought out varied menu and some of their meals are a little on the pricy side but well worth it. We're from Westchester county NY and are staying in a nearby inn in Saugerties for a few days and decided to patronize the cafe yesterday after checking out the customer reviews which were overall very good. We ordered the squash soup with pepitas, beet salad, the organic angus cheese hamburger with bbq aioli sauce with house salad on the side instead of fries which are also offered as well. In addition, I also ordered their "famous" Bloody Mary. I have to say to their credit, the soup, beet salad were savory and delicious and the Bloody Mary was spot on and one of the best that I ever had. Now, here is why I gave them only 4 stars. I ordered the burger medium well and it came out cooked medium rare which I would never eat but luckily, my dining partner loves his burgers medium rare and took it off my hands and thoroughly enjoyed it with his beet salad. I reordered the same burger again, but this time, I asked that I wanted it well cooked to be on the safe side. Our waitress came back shortly after with a new plated burger with more of their house salad with champagne vinegrette that was very delicious, as was the burger which was charbroiled as ordered to perfection, it was so juicy and tasty that I commented to the waitress that that was the best hamburger that I ever had! Suffice to say, I had a bit too much of their warm delicious bread with butter beforehand and became full where I couldn't finish the other half of the burger and most of the salad so I asked for a take out box. Imagine my surprise later on in the evening when I had a hunger pang and decided to warm up the leftover and firstly, noticed that the box seemed too small to hold half a large burger and all the extra salad that I had left on my plate. In the small cardboard box was a significantly smaller amount of salad and and no cheesburger in sight, the careless box packer threw it away! I feel cheated and disappointed because we paid 18 dollars just for that burger and I only got to enjoy half of it! Granted, I raved to the waitress how delicious our food and cocktail was and how we even enjoyed the piped in Spotify music and left her at least a 25% tip on the tab. We were thinking of returning again with a guest for dinner and/or lunch but feel somewhat reluctant now, but the food was exceptional. Take a chance on this place, just check your leftovers box before you leave the premises. We forgot the waitress name but she was very friendly and attentive and I hope that she wasn't the one who packed ...
Read moreDelicious food and spectacular drinks from EXTRAORDINARY people. It was an honor to work with Marc and his team at Miss Lucy’s Kitchen! When people are still talking about the food and drinks over a month later, you know they absolutely crushed it at the wedding. Our planner Kate gave us a list in the very beginning to help us search for different caterers…with the preface that we couldn’t go wrong with Miss Lucy’s. We decided to reach out, and from that moment on, it was like we gained another family member who was there throughout every single little step of the wedding process. Marc was outrageously accommodating to our every whim and want – he even drove to NYC multiple times to meet my husband to discuss details because we live in Pennsylvania and it was quite a hike for us to go back and forth to the Hudson Valley. He’s hilarious, extremely kind and caring, and when it comes to food…you just can’t beat him. We visited Miss Lucy’s Kitchen in Saugerties, NY frequently over our two-ish year long process, and every single time, he welcomed us with open arms, helped us figure out the details behind the food and the drinks…and jumped wholeheartedly into every other little detail you could possibly imagine including picking tables, chairs, different bars, and even helping us with floor plans and the logistics of the day. You seriously aren’t going to find another caterer that’s willing to be so involved in your big day – he’s beyond professional when it comes to getting everything done on time…and doing it well. Marc also knows a lot of the vendors in the area, and works well with them, so having him as a part of our wedding team was quite frankly one of the best decisions we made for that whole day and night. We cannot thank him and his team enough for everything they did to help us throw the biggest party of our lives. He welcomed not only us when we visited his restaurant from out of town, but our family members as well when we happened to bring them along. The food, the drinks, the service was always top notch – I wish I could give them more than five stars. Our family and friends devoured every morsel of Miss Lucy’s divine cuisine and pretty much ran both bars dry – the cocktails were out of this world! If you truly want an unforgettable experience, whether it is for the food, the drinks, the accommodations, or even the friendship you will inevitably form, do yourself a huge favor and work with Marc and Miss Lucy’s Kitchen! We are forever grateful…thank you Marc…sending our love –...
Read moreOverall it was a decent dinner but underwhelming experience for the price.
We had a table for 7 reserved for 7pm but still had to wait 10 minutes to be seated.
Only 4 beers were on tap but a decent selection of other drinks and a full bar otherwise.
The bread and butter served before our meals to the group was really good!
I had the ribeye and for the price I would have expected it to have been more properly cooked. I asked for it medium, and the outside was 100% burned while the inside was more medium rare. I can completely accept anything in the range between medium rare to medium well when I ask for medium, because I understand there can be fluctuation from place to place so that wasn't a big deal. The outside was absolutely totally well done to the point that I could only taste the char. It was definitely the most overcooked outside of a steak I've ever had and I always get them medium.
The onion straws, potatoes, and green beans that all came with the steak were all really tasty.
Two from my group got the fried chicken and said it was mediocre and had not much meat but plenty of breading.
Two others got the turkey pot pie. Both agreed it was more like a turkey soup but still really tasty!
Our waitress was very nice and helpful and the service was good for the most part. However, after we were brought our meals they never checked on us once until after we were finished eating and we could have used a refill on beverages.
This is the second time we've been there and the experience with the food was similar, hit or miss depending on what you...
