EDIT It pains to write this update. The old Kingston Wok is dead and gone. They are under new ownership and everything that made them great has been taken away. They no longer serve sushi. All the food is just ok. Not terrible, but not especially good. Even their dumplings with that legendary sweet dumpling sauce are ruined. Now they are served with a lightly flavored simple syrup. Very dull, very boring. The dumplings themselves appeared to be mass produced and frozen.
The General Tso chicken, a dish that used to be AMAZING here, is now just meh. There is far more breading than chicken, and the sauce has far less flavor. It's just a boring syrup now.
I tried it twice in the past year to give them a fair chance since it used to be so great. Sadly, this mainstay of Kingston cuisine is gone. What's left is...
Read moreThe food was okay, but I felt it could have packed a stronger punch in terms of flavor. The Thai Salad was underwhelming—tiny portion, and it relied entirely on the dressing for taste. I even had to add lettuce at home to make it feel more substantial. For a combo meal, I expected larger portions overall.
On the bright side, the egg roll and hot and sour soup were quite good. The soup, in particular, was well-balanced, with a nice mix of flavors.
The Chicken in Spicy Peanut Sauce had potential—the sauce was excellent—but there simply wasn’t enough of it. Each bite should be coated in flavor, not leaving me reaching for packet soy sauce to fill the gap.
Overall, I wanted bold, spicy flavors to hit me hard, but it fell short. Just a bit more attention to portion sizes and seasoning, and this could have been a...
Read moreI enjoyed my time here. I got a sesame chicken lunch plate for around $12.50 and it was mostly really good. My waiter was very helpful and kind which I appreciated. I don’t know her name otherwise I would make sure her specific efforts were recognized. She was a wonderful server. She brought out complimentary fried noodles and a little bowl of duck sauce (or some other sweet sauce) to start. The meal’s wonton soup came out next, then the chicken, rice, and egg roll. The food came out very quickly. Everything tasted great except the chicken tasted a little old to me. Then again, I used to be a vegetarian so it’s totally possible that my tastebuds are off. Either way, good value for just $12.50. The place was a quiet and peaceful spot to enjoy a meal for a while. I...
