I have been here twice one time, and it was almost closing time, so we received the last bit of food. I wanted to go again to get the full experience. I have to say the service was really nice both ladies was the sweetest. The atmosphere was nice. I like the fact they have an outdoor space for the summertime. That was really nice.
The first time, I ordered a small dinner with oxtails, white rice, and sweet plantains. Like I stated before, I came at the last minute, so the food wasn't all that great.
I went again today, and I have to say. The oxtail was really good. This time, I tried yellow rice because last time, the white rice was extremely hard. The yellow rice was good. The sweet plantains were extremely hard and not sweet. I am not sure if they waited long enough for them to be sweet to cook, but this is the second time I had them here, and each time, they were not sweet, and they were hard. 2 of them I didn't eat because they were too hard to eat. The oxtails were tender and good. I would come back only for the oxtails, I am 50/50 if I would recommend this place. So I am indecisive regarding that. But overly my experience was nice and the owner was...
Read moreI like this place and frequent it enough for the owner to recognize us and she’s always sweet to my daughter. But today I had asked if they could substitute something for the sides they did not have. They still had their sign up stating the sides are included but don’t even have enough sides to cover them until they close. I don’t get how you close at 7 but ran out of sides hours before close and don’t bother to make more during dinner time. Cabbage and plantains do not take long to make. That’s what I call laziness and bad for business. Nothing comes free even though she said plantains and cabbage are free. I’ve learn about cost control through food service and every item is factored into the price, so if your missing sides that are supposed to be in the meal than you should either be substituting or giving a discount if you can’t keep your food in supply. Or at least take the sign down! Sadly I won’t be returning here. The woman working the counter could have at least acknowledged that I am a frequent customer instead of getting sarcastic and a bit rude. And it was not the owner it was one of her older employees but the owner sat there and...
Read moreA Taste of Home: Incredible Food and Unforgettable Hospitality Our visit last night 10/25/25 stepping into this spot felt less like entering a restaurant and more like being invited directly into the owner's vibrant, bustling kitchen. The food is, without exaggeration, out of this world. Every single dish we tried—from the first bite to the last—was prepared with a level of care and flavor that is truly rare. What made the experience so special was the owner's incredible generosity. She clearly loves what she does, and she shared that passion freely, offering us samples of several specialties as if proudly showing off her home cooking. It was that genuine, hands-on attention that created such a warm atmosphere. This isn't just dining; it's a wonderfully intimate and delicious experience where you leave feeling nourished, appreciated, and completely inspired. We'll...
