If you're looking for a child friendly, INCLUSIVE place to eat at in Old Forge, this place is NOT it. I find it irnoic they even have a kids menu, with the way they treat their patrons. The waitress was quite rude from the start; My husband ordered cola beverage and mixed up Pepsi/ Coke products. He cheekishly said to our party dining with us, oh yeah that one, they're pretty much the same thing. The waitress responded, "no, they're not" in a rude tune, with no laugh or anything after. We brushed it off as we were starving from being at Water Safari all day. So we ordered the rest of our meals. During our meal an old man, we assume may be a "townie" made a comment about how "loud we were being" to the waitress, as my son with a speech disability that consists of having flaccid dysarthria (where he had trouble at times controlling his pitch/ voice level at times) said words on TWO occasions during our time there where we asked him to check his voice level and he did. I understand the diner can not control what other patron dining there say, but it was the waitresses response that bothered me the most. She said, "well it is tourist season" and rolled her eyes. No offense, but we had a party of five and were spending about $20 per person (which is extremely overpriced for the quality of the food there), the tourists are what keep those businesses running up there. Regardless, my child or any child that eats there should be treated with respect and dignity regardless of disability or not. I will also note that the diner, is very small and tables are packed closely together. The food was subpar and my sandwich was very salty to the point I couldn't even finish half of it. The bun on another member of our party's sandwich was soggy. Drinks were almost $4.00 a piece alone! They also only have a small sign by the restrooms stating, 'no separate checks, no exceptions', which may inconvenience others. My family frequents Old Forge and we were highly disappointed with our experience here. I would not recommend going there to others and we will not...
Read moreHorrible. I really do not like leaving bad reviews, but this experience was terrible. We chose Walt's because they advertised they were rated #1 in the area by customers. As soon as I stepped foot into this dirty, run down place, my gut told me to leave; however, it was freezing out & my little one was hungry so I ignored my instincts. We were seated at a small table in the middle of the dining room that seemed to be in the way of traffic. A waitress dropped a tray of dressings that sent shards of porcelain & white stuff flying all over my shoes & pants. After a booth cleared out, I asked to be moved. We ordered a burger with fries & gravy from the loud, obnoxious waitress... Then waited, & waited, & waited. I watched people who came in after us get served before us. The waitress ignored us the entire time. After 40 minutes, I asked her if she forgot about us. She appeared miffed that I asked, & stalked off to the kitchen mumbling under her breath. She reappeared, saying she doesn't know what happened to our order & she put a "rush" on it. 20 minutes later, the disgusting, inedible food was plopped onto the table. The burger was tasteless & the fries appeared burnt, with old, lumpy, cold gravy. We literally could not eat it. The food was so horrible, & the waitress so rude, it wasn't worth even complaining about- at this point, I just wanted to quitely pay the bill & get the hell out of there. So that's what we did. This was the worst experience we've ever had dining out, ever. Skip this place & hit up the little coffee shop a...
Read moreIt seems nowadays that anything other than a 5 is a negative review. I enjoyed eating here but I want to be honest with my review. The Male Chef was complaining about something being left outside in the rain and getting rude and you can see him while you’re eating, it was a little awkward. The staff all left the building completely while our party of three and a couple were eating.
They all went outside to smoke. We finished and waited awhile for the server to come but we had to stand up and wait at the counter for bit. The waitress was very kind and bubbly. The atmosphere is good, it’s a clean spot and well organized. Seems like a good classic diner. The signs on the walls are kind of funny but a little tacky I imagine for some.
The food was a middle of the road diner style food. I ate all of my steak, prices were fair, the food came out extremely quick. Perhaps the staff heading outside to smoke and the ached complaining is not normal, maybe they just didn’t have their full on “professional persona” because there were only two parties eating.
These are the things we didn’t like but I’d absolutely return and probably...
