I work in town and have given this place several tries but each time I walk away disappointed and poorer. First time I ordered a smoothie and it was so awful in taste and texture I threw most of it out. Second visit tried a grain bowl, the portion was small and lacked flavor. The listed ingredients were all there but in small portions. Example, if it came with strawberries, you probably only get what would total to one and a half small strawberries. My friend also asked for extra spices and hot sauce on the side for her bowl because again it lacked any flavor. This most recent time, I tried a different bowl and asked for tempe added on. When I opened the box it appeared to be missing. I questioned it and the cook explained it fell apart when cooked. If it was in there I couldn't tell at all. But to be fair I wrongly assumed this would be a cold dish like the other bowls and salad it is listed with. It came out like a hot box of slop with guac on top. Nothing more unappetizing than hot guac. Again, no flavor, not even a hint of salt that I could taste. Mind you these bowls are not cheap. I ate it, but was wishing for something else with every bite. So it is with certainty that I will not attempt any more orders from this place and hope that they reevaluate their recipes in a way where people can actually enjoy eating healthy. Plus side, I ordered during peak lunch hours and there was no line. Oh wait,...
Read moreNot a bad place, but the price doesn’t justify what you get. $84 for four pb&j, four kids smoothies and two rice bowls. Service guy was nice, but the bathroom was poorly maintained.
Update: Thank you for taking the time to promptly respond, it shows that you care and are invested in providing the best service possible. I do understand that the prices are listed and we knew that ahead of time, but my purpose for sharing was so that other families can know what to expect prior to visiting. It was $13 per child and they were all hungry again an hour later, therefore from a big family perspective, the cost wasn't justified. I don't think this is a bad establishment, hence leaving a 4 star review and not less, but from my perspective, our experience did not merit the excellence a 5 star review would imply.
As far as the bathrooms go, yes, we did notify the staff at the front desk and he did not attend to the bathrooms even though there was a good period of time where no new guests entered the restaurant. A poorly maintained bathroom is, in my opinion, a huge indicator of the overall quality standard a restaurant provides its customers. Consequently if there were a star rating option for cleanliness, I would've given 2 stars for that at most. Something to consider. Thanks again...
Read moreI initially didn't notice this place, as it is on Caroline street and has a small tucked-away door. What a beautiful surprise when I had my first meal! The inviting, cozy interior is complemented by warm, approachable staff who are eager to recommend different dishes. They are also happy to give you details about different ingredients if you're picky like me or have allergies.
What I find most surprising is the food quality. The dishes here are absolutely bursting with complex, yet balanced flavors. I am a very picky eater, and everything I have eaten has been absolutely delicious! So much so it makes me question what I do and do not like to eat. For example, I do not like carrots or coconut... and yet somehow I love the coconut-carrot puree that comes with some of the grain bowls and salads. You have also got to try the peanut-lime sauce - YUM!
I think this is a bit of a secret gem because it's not totally easy to find, but it has quickly become my favorite and go-to place for lunch and sometimes early dinner.
If you like food that tastes amazing and is also healthy, this is the place to go.
