🍽️ **Ashoka Indian Restaurant, Troy: 👍 👍 👍 👍👍** Embark on a Flavorful Journey at Ashoka Indian Restaurant in Troy, where diners have shared their culinary experience. **FOOD QUALITY👍**: The spread included veggie pakoda, chicken pakoda, veggie fried rice, chicken hukka noodles, Gobi Manchurian, and Nan, all offering a decent blend of flavors. **SERVICE & AMBIENCE👍**: The service at Ashoka Indian Restaurant is commendable, with attentive waiting staff and a pleasant ambiance contributing to a positive dining experience. **VALUE for MONEY👍**: Patrons find the overall experience to be satisfactory, considering the decent food quality and service, providing reasonable value for money. **SPACE & WAITING TIME👍**: Efficient management of space and waiting times adds to the convenience for diners at Ashoka Indian Restaurant. **LOCATION & ACCESSIBILITY👍**: Conveniently situated in Troy, Ashoka Indian Restaurant is easily accessible, making it a preferred choice for those seeking a delightful Indian culinary experience. In essence, Ashoka Indian Restaurant in Troy provides a pleasant dining experience with a variety of dishes, decent food quality, and good service, making it a favored destination for those craving authentic Indian flavors. 2019 Food was yummy. Spicy and tasty. Indo Chinese fried rice is good . Chicken manchurian great. Kadai chicken could have improve and South Indian flavour not there . Lamb options not available though. Naan was bit salty. Free pappad nice. Ambiance same years now. Waiting staff did their job but can smile🤣 gave handsome tips but no one back to table and say thanks . Manager on duty not even say good night while leaving...not a big deal and can’t expect ... dinner price is bit expensive in few items. Buffet good better choice. We went mid week and has decent crowd. Overall getting same experience and one of the best option in Troy.

I’m sad to even write this but Ashoka has gone to the pits... I used to go to the location in Canton years ago . It was great . Service and food . Now because they shut down I wanted to take my fiancé to this location so he could try it . The only thing I’ve ever ordered from the Troy location was samosas .. We finally went together and it just wasn’t good . Pretty embarrassing for me because my fiancé a desi man so he knows how the food should taste . He did not like it! And I did not think it tasted the same way as before . It seemed like the recipes had been change to make the food cheaper . Not even kidding .. my chicken chili masala tasted like spaghetti sauce with chicken.. not cool ... The service at this location is horrible . Nobody ever speaks . When you walk in they assume you are going to do the buffet just like everyone else 🙄 Our waiter said nothing but 3 words to us.. I kid you not .. All of the employees seem miserable and unorganized . But you can blame management for that . . Still don’t know why the Canton location closed but I’m disappointed with the direction this restaurant has gone down . I wouldn’t call this Indian cuisine at all . It’s quite a disgrace if you ask me .. and I’m not even Indian🤷🏾‍♀️ Maybe management will change and the place will get a good polishing and food will improved ... then again maybe not .. The only thing I got out of this visit was a good picture . 🤦🏽‍♀️

The restaurant is clean and food is always brought out in a timely fashion. The service is not the greatest but I cannot resist dining in due to the savory nature of some of the dishes (as seen in pictures below.) The Owner is hands on and typically resides in the front, greets you and is the one to check you out for carry out orders. The dishes are worth the price and definitely highlights key aspects of what Indian cuisine should represent. That being said however, a lot of the biryani dishes that are served are not accurate to how I have found to be in other higher end restaurants. Typically the "sauce" as well as meet are found on the bottom of the dishes but in Ashoka's case they mix it all in. I find the dishes to taste better when the latter is performed to Biryani. If you are in the area, and are looking for a new place to try out I would recommend this. The parking is plentiful and typically there is no wait to get a table for in house service. Be sure to try the Chicken 65 as it is one of their more tastier menu offerings.

Okay I’m never the one to complain or leave a review but I’ve been coming to this place for over 15 years and yesterday was the first time I didn’t enjoy their service or food… the owner was out of town so I see why things were out of hand.

First off the waiter we had was super rude I can’t even begin to explain… He was super rushy when I was ordering 😑 I was asking about the Khandhari Naan and he acted like there was no such thing and the only naan on the menu is garlic naan.. so I had to point out to him on the menu…We also ordered garlic naan and he never put the order in… I ordered onion pakora as a appetizer and it came as large onion rings not the traditional way … I make onion pakoras and had them many times in India.. I asked the waiter to take it back and he had a super rude approach saying “oh well this is how we have been making them for 2 years” … Okay well this is not the way I remember Ashoka making them cause I got my wedding catering from here … ALL TO IT I’m not paying for something I’m not going to eat so he took it back after he continued with his attitude.

We got the Lamb Koorma and it was good , the butter chicken wasn’t good at all it was soar taste like straight up tomato paste… my favorite dish from here was the butter chicken and it was horrible yesterday… The bus boy was a older man and he was super sweet we gave him a tip. Also another man wearing a white shirt who I believe was the manager was really nice and understanding as to why I was not going to tip this horrible waiter we had … He told us to please come again when the owner is back is on the 27th. I was super shocked cause I loved this resturant… over all my experience with the waiter that wasn’t even doing his job had the other men do it for him … led me to never want to come here again and I will not recommend it to anyone I know ever. We also got charged a bit more for the dishes & it was less on the menu...

A few years ago this place use to be really good. It was my first experience eating indian food, It has now become my favorite type of food. I went back there a week ago and it was one of the worst experiences I have had at a restaurant. The only worse experiences I have had are because of food poisioning. My glass was completly filthy, when the waitor filled my glass with water there were specs of what I assume was old food from a previous customer. Upon getting the traditional sauces I found a hair in one of them. Besides the fiflth the food was an even worse experience. The appitizer sampler could barley pass at a fast food restaurant. Plainly it was a fried potato, fried onion rings, and fried peppers, and one samosa that was drenched with grease in the inside. When the chicken tikka masala arrived the basmati rice was half spongy, but the naan was actually fairly good. The actual chicken tikka masala had no flavor or spice whatsover it was disgusting and would barley be passable as a can of spaghetti o’s at the grocery store. That is what it tasted like, in fact spaghetti o’s probably taste better. I am actually very suprised and thankful that I did not get food poisioning. Im willing to bet if a food inspector were to visit that place it would be shut down immediately. DO NOT visit this establishment. There are plenty of other indian establishments around the area that are quite good. Thankfully this wasnt my first experience otherwise I know I would never want to eat...
