I have attended two classes at Orangetheory and I was blown away! I'm hooked! Not only are the workouts and facility amazing, but their customer service has been outstanding. I attended my first free introductory class on Monday, 10/08/18 at 7:00 PM and I wanted to become a member instantly when the class was over. My second class was today, Thursday, 10/11/18 at 5:00 AM. The classes had high energy with a great mix of cardio and strength and head coach, Hannah has done an incredible job of keeping people moving, motivated and accountable. During the class she explained the workouts thoroughly, talked about the next steps and asked people to stay in control when their heart rates reached into the red. The music that they played during class has been awesome too-a great mix of pop, rock and rap.
I am a former member of a local CrossFit gym in Troy, MI, which was recently dissolved and I was looking for something similar to the boot camp classes that I was attending at that gym. I definitely found it at Orangetheory in Troy. The heart rate monitors are key to holding yourself accountable and making sure you are pushing yourself the right amount to get a great workout. The goal that they set for their members is to get their heart rates "into the orange," which is about 80%-89% of your heart's potential. They ask for a minimum of 12 minutes in the orange during every class, which will help your body achieve the "after-burn" during the next thirty-six hours. That helps you burn calories and reach your fitness goals.
All and all, Orangetheory - Troy gets high marks (5 stars out of 5) from me and the business deserves its success based on the wonderful experiences that they give their members. You should definitely give this place a shot! If you are doing CrossFit, power lifting, Olympic weightlifting, MMA, or any other athletic discipline, Orangetheory is a great way to supplement those workout programs and increase your endurance.
THE FACILITY is extremely nice with top notch equipment and super clean, which includes the bathrooms and showers. You can tell a lot about a place based on the cleanliness of it, specifically the cleanliness of the bathrooms. If the bathrooms are clean, then that means it's a business of integrity that cares about its members. Obviously Orangetheory - Troy cares about their members because the bathrooms were spotless. I was impressed with the quality of the weightlifting equipment, the rower and the treadmill too. The rower has water in it, which made for a smoother ride than the Concept 2 rowers that I used during CrossFit. The treadmill has some cushion under the tread, which helped prevent shin splints and other injuries. They had a large assortment of dumbbells to choose from, which was awesome because I like to go heavy from time to time. They also had lockers available, which had an advanced locking system. You set a password for the locker every...
Read moreNever in my life did I think I would ever enjoy working out. I hated the very thought of going to a gym. However, Orangetheory changed that for me. I literally get butterflies in my stomach when I pass by a studio. The staff here is beyond wonderful. They treat you like family. Once you walk in you are greeted by name and everyone is so cheerful and motivating. Amy and all the other front desk staff are what make the experience that much better.
Now let’s talk about the actual work out: it’s a HIIT gym and you typically spend about 30 mins on the treads and 30 mins in the weight room. The work outs are different every single day. I have been coming here for over a year now and I really don’t believe I’ve had the same class twice. Back to the workout, it’s challenging but once you can get over that you’ll learn that you can challenge yourself even more. You will see results. I was extremely out of shape before starting here and now i can manage to take on an entire class without any modifications usually.
If that’s not enough, not only am I in the best shape I have ever been in, I truly believe OTF has changed the way I handle stress. I feel like a whole new person.
If you want a fun and energizing workout this place is worth...
Read moreI have been a member of OTF-Troy since June of 2017. The workout is fantastic and I met some amazing people during this time. If there is one thing that I have come to depend on in this life, it is change. Over the years I have experienced many changes at this specific facility and the one that is constant is the removal of the 5am class. It is the first class to be removed from the schedule on a consistent basis without warning. This time a mere three weeks prior to Hell week after commitment fees were paid. There are reasons 5 am classes are attended, and it’s not for the simple pleasure of waking up early. I leave a one-star as I have watched many long-time members turn in their cancellation notices due to the repeated removal of this class time. I recommend OTF workout just not at this location due to the disheartening way the owners of this franchise treat their dedicated members. If “finding a different time to workout” was that easy, we would have already done it and I can assure you no-one wants to get up at 4:10am to attend a 4:55am work-out unless it is their...
