I've been to Deli and Brew about a dozen or so times. It was my go-to sub shop when my family and I were looking for a great sub, regardless of a whapping bill (for a family of four +2). My last visit has me second-guessing another return. Reasons: -when I walked in, it smelled along the lines of food or meat that had turned. The best way I can explain it is this - if you open a ”well used” refrigerator, in the summer, that has been off for a while. As this was a recent visit, I took my mask off for a second to smell the air... -This is a time were ’everyone’ is obliged to Wear a Mask in public -especially food preparation staff! The lady who made my subs did not have one on at all! Why I continued with my order without asking her to put one on, I do not know....I’m a passive person! But between the mask issue and the smell - it should have been a sign for me to rethink my order and walk out. But no... -I brought my six subs home. Three of us ate a 1/2 of our subs (to have the other half later) two eat all of theirs, and one person saved their sub altogether for later. Those who did eat were ill (with stomach issues) within hours of eating them. Needless to say, the other halves and the whole sub was garbage. Summary: Cleanliness of the place was obviously overlooked, and staff blatantly disregarded rules during such a crisis... It will be hard to come back from that experience. Secondary to all of this was spending almost $100 just to get sick and throw the food (money) out. As Shark Tank would say,”...
Read moreI've been a patron of Deli & Brew on and off, for about 15 years now.
This place has suffered a massive decline in the quality and preparation of its offerings.
It used to be the go to spot to get pizza if you were near hvcc, my friends and I used to drive 20 min just to grab a slice because it was that good.
Killer pizza, killer subs. I use to go in and shoot the breeze with the guy making the pizza as we were both pats fans. He's no longer there, and neither is the quality of the pizza.
I hadn't been in about a year or so, and ordered a full pizza for a 530 pickup on a Friday night.
The recipe was no where close to what it used to be, just a couple crumbs of bacon and some well past ripe tomatoes slathered in ranch sauce, really gross to be honest. The pizza was certainly not a $20 offering, nor was it prepared(undercooked/raw dough.) In the past, this pizza could have gone for $20, no issues, but the quality of the ingredients, the preparation, etc has gone out the window.
It used to be a pizza with a nice quantity of your chicken or bacon, pepperoni, peppers, whatever it is, made with pride. Now it seems as though the quality of everything involved with the process is of no concern, but it's still a $20 D&B pizza.
It's sad to say, but the quality experience of D&B is a thing...
Read moreI wanted to order from here a few times before giving a review so I could order a bunch of different things from their menu and make sure I wasn't being biased because my Aunt Peg works there and makes some of their more popular dishes. Mission Accomplished!!! Their food is so Amazingly Good consistently! The portions are large and the prices are more than reasonable. Best NY style Pizza and biggest, fullest Subs I've ever had! The Chili is meaty and beany with the freshest chunks of peppers and onions and the Mac n Cheese is deliciously creamy. You can tell they make their Chicken Salad and Mac and Tuna Salad fresh daily. All the comfort foods you could want! The varieties of pizza available is insane!!! Only desert I've tried so far is the Rice and Raisin Pudding which was Yum! But there's lots more there. Hard to pick sometimes with all the food and drink choices in the store! The place gets crowded, but the staff is so attentive and polite and have their own rhythm to get you in and out quickly. Living in Saratoga now, but when visiting the area, we most often stop here!!! Go try it ... and make sure to say "Hi"...
