What started out as a convenient place to entertain a group of clients on a short notice ended up being a place we will never return to or recommend, not even for employment. Drinks were normal, nothing out of the ordinary there, prices were ehhh.. average, server was sweet, definitely over worked while others stood around though. Food… well… ordered queso cheese for our chips, and received a soup cup full of barely microwaved canned nacho cheese. It literally jiggled like jello! 🤢. French onion looked like a bowl of broth with microwaved cheese, not baked or broiled. Everything was prefab like school or hospital cafeteria food, but whatever we were there to entertain our clients.
All of the sudden a staff member decides to whip open the garage doors to the outside patio as if it were 70 degrees outside (which it was low 50’s) creating not only a blast of cold outside air but blasting sun and dust flying into our faces, drinks and food. Our entire group was freezing and trying to cover the food and drinks.
We asked to please close the garage door as its freezing over here. One waitress said the table nearest (3 men) wants it open. It was clear the three men had preferential treatment over our large group so we graciously suffered. After the table of men left. One of our clients who was closest and freezing went over and closed it, not thinking it would be an issue since they left and the staff was huddled over by the bar without a care in the world. She headed back and out of no where a young lady with long brown hair came flying from the bar stomping her feet with authority snapping her head and whipped open the garage door even more than it was before. Our client said I closed it because they left and were freezing. The girl snapped back “and I opened it to get some air in here on a nice day!”. Client. We’ve asked several times for it to be closed, we waited until your group of 3 regulars left, it’s 50 degrees outside and is freezing” the gal snapped back “it’s a nice day and we’re not going to turn on the a/c when we can just open the door”. Client “if we wanted to sit outside on the patio we would’ve, it’s cold, our entire table is freezing does that not matter?” the girl snapped back, “are you yelling at me, don’t you dare yell at me” mind you in a threatening manner like she was going bounce our client out because our entire table was freezing. So our client with a puzzled look on her face, says, “what are you talking about, I’m not yelling, I’m Italian this is how I talk, you’re the one who came over here to yell at me have you heard yourself”. Girl stomps off still saying something snarky and the next thing we know the waitress brings a round of ice waters to a range of grown professionals (age ranging 45-70) as if we’ve had too much to drink and cutting us off all because we were cold and the snarky alleged manager decided to utilize her ability to flash her badge of power to put our client in her place. Then the poor waitress says well the Troy police wait outside of our bar just to pull people over. Ok, food a couple drinks and conversation? Again no fancy drinks no shots, no hard liquors, some even water or cola on the side. 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️Terrible excuse, but if that was the case why did she bring another round of drinks? Oh because her and another staff member apologized and said she was directed by little miss snarky who is obsessed with showcasing her badge of managerial power! Figured out that most likely the reason why this venue can accommodate large groups on a short notice is because the food sucks and the snarky manager lacks in hospitality etiquette so of course there’s always seats available. Unfortunately we found the only thing “kool” about Joe Kool’s was the inside temperature and the snarky manager icy...
Read moreNormally I dont do this but.... a group of friends and I recently visited this establishment and had awful service. The waitress did not take any of our drink orders and forgot half of them within the first 5 minutes of walking away , once we ordered our food once again she did not write any of it down and then forgot half of the tables food my friend receives no food whatsoever and my other friend didnt receive half of his order. When she asked if she could get us anything we said yes the rest of our food that we ordered and she looked dumbfounded she said it would be up shortly and clearly went over to the computer to put the order in because she clearly forgot to the first time, needless to.say one.of.our group didnt want the food anymore and we just wanted our Bill's, when the Bill's were brought everyone's orders were mixed together and on the wrong Bill's and we were also charged for drinks we never even ordered!! Needless to say her excuse was that she hadn't worked a weekend in months , now I'm a chef and have been around the business and step one always write down what seat got what order so you dont charge people the wrong items of items they never ordered, aside from that the food that we did get was good , it just came down to the server she had no business being a waitress if she can even take down the right order for...
Read moreFirst the good, best classic rock music I've ever experienced at any bar or restaurant, good attention to detail in food customization (well done fries), good service, good food quantities. Not so good: botched execution on both appetizers and entrees 2 days in a row. For example, cheese curd appetizer had a horrifically bad garlic type flavor when unflavored we could have been perfectly fine. "Asiago chicken" entree would have been good if not drenched in a watery similarly horrific "3-cheese" sauce. I left a 15%tip both days even tho the bulk of the food was bad, and I insisted on paying full price even tho all the food besides the fries was inedible. I made a friendly customer feedback suggestion to waitress explaining the bad flavors today. Her uninspired response was there is "nothing we can do about the cheese curds as they come pre-flavored." I disagreed and suggested that they simply purchase unflavored curds, which likely would have resulted in another star. It's hard to screw up cheese curds but they did. Other fails were inexplicable crumbling of a burger mea, and chicken tenders that were mostly breading. For reference, chick fillet tenders 9.5/10, JK tenders 2/10. Maybe I would have had better luck buying the more expensive appetizers vs the...
