First and last time going here! My son and I were the second customers in at 8 ish am. Restaurant was clean with nice table setting. LINNEA was our server who wrote her name on the table. I ordered the RECIPES and requested that it be served VERY HOT! While we waited, the other couple complained that their blackberry biscuits were cold. My eggs, ham and potatoes came out first and my ham was cold. She returned with the pancakes that were also cold. I sent them back to be warmed up. She returned with the microwaved ham and the edges were burnt. She came back with the pancakes that were also microwaved but still not hot. I asked for fresh hot pancakes. A lady came to the table and asked if there was a problem with the pancakes. I explained to her what I asked for and asked for the manager. She said that they had no manager and walked away. 10 minutes later my pancakes came and I refused them. I also informed LINNEA that I could hear her when she went into the kitchen to complain about me. She went back into the kitchen and told the staff what I said and said that she didn’t care that I could hear her. I was willing to pay for the meal minus the pancakes but they took 50% off my order. The food was mid and cold. The service was horrible and LINNEA and the other lady should NOT be in the food service industry! Not a good look for the one of the first customers of the day. You won’t be bothered with my patronage...

I can't wait to visit Detroit again now that I found Recipes for breakfast. I had the crabcake eggs Benedict...it was delicious. I suggest you go there if you can for breakfast or for lunch.

NOTE WELL: I was back at Recipes last week;as good as my first review was is as negative this one is. Hard to believe what happened to me. I ordered a "rolled omelet with 'crabmeat". Very bluntly, I couldn't find the crab. I had cut the omelet in half so I opened up the other side to look for crab - some very, very small shreds. I mentioned this to the waitress. I was not going to eat eggs only. No response. I received the bill - full price for something that was misrepresented. I asked to speak to the manager. Did the manager come over? NO. He sent someone else who told me that since I had "eaten some of it" ..... Now wait a minute; if I had not tasted the omelette how would I have known it was minus crabmeat? She left the table without a word and came back after taking $3.15 off the bill. No, I have no idea how she came up with that number. I explained to her that I had left a very good review the first time I was in and that what they were doing was completely unprofessional. I will never go back again. The woman could care less. She was pure and simply mean. The...

This place as good food and pleasant employees and good service. It always seem clean.Prices are average. Where they lost points with me is last time I was there I noticed they now have "No Camping" signs on the tables. I realize this is an annoyance for restaurants, however people go out to socialize as well as have a meal. I don't normally stay much longer than it takes me to eat my meal but occasionally I have when I've been out with friends or relatives. I think it's rude to make people feel like they are being rushed so you can turnover that table faster. That being said...It would be nice if people see there is a wait and they are done with their meal and coffee etc.. they should be courteous and get up. When you deal with the public you have to take the good and the bad. (UNLESS ITS OVER THE TOP BAD) I hope they rethink that sign. If they feel a sign is a must...Maybe reword it to something like: THANK YOU FOR DINING WITH US. WE APPRECIATE YOUR BUISNESS. WE HOPE YOU ENJOYED YOUR MEAL. WE ASK IF YOU SEE PEOPLE WAITING TO BE SEATED AND YOU ARE DONE WITH YOUR MEAL, AS A COURTESY TO OTHER PATRONS SO THEY CAN ENJOY A MEAL AS WELL, WE WOULD APPRECIATE YOU GIVING UP YOUR TABLE. THANK YOU AND WE HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN SOON. It's all the...

From the outside, the place seems a little run down. Don't let that fool you! I almost don't want to leave such a great review, because then more people will know about the place... But it was pretty full when I ate there today and it was still cozy and not loud! Really well designed space! There's a wide variety of food, and I will definitely be going back to try more. I wasn't a huge fan of what I got (the T/R Croissant: it was fine, but on the greasy side, with all the oils from the bacon and stuff soaking into the bread. Meh). But the rest of my party got other stuff, and I got to try tastes, and nearly everything was awesome! I really like how they put white paper on the tables! There are nice tablecloths which they cover with white butcher paper, which gives a pleasant, clean surface guaranteed. Zero chance of a missed spot of maple syrup ruining my sleeve. Great idea! So yeah, don't judge the book by its cover. Try it out, you won't be disappointed. Except maybe by the hours: they're only open until early afternoon. Breakfast/brunch only! Incentive to get up and move of a morning!

I LOVE Recipes! I first had breakfast here with a friend, and loved the food so much that I brought my Husband on a breakfast date. The outside is deceptive; it looks like a small diner. The inside is decent sized and actually very inviting and kind of upscale. There are inspirational quotes painted or stickered on the yellow walls, the tables have white table cloth with white paper over top, and there's a flower on every table. The servers are all very friendly and write their names on the paper on the tables. As awesome as this place is, the food is the main attraction. They are a breakfast restaurant, and oh boy do they have the tastiest food!! From $8-$15 a plate, it's very affordable, and the food is better than most places I've eaten. This visit I had biscuits and gravy, again, because it's so good! It comes with chunks of what looks like sausage links and fresh chives. My husband had the Tooka Omelet that is filled with artichoke, spinach, cappers, sun dried tomato, feta, and topped with white cheddar. I'm not joking, the food is SO good! This is our favorite breakfast date location!

Recipes Restaurant is a charming little diner with a cozy and welcoming vibe. The space is clean, well-kept, and decorated with a touch of personality that makes you feel right at home. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. We tried the skillet and the country Benedict, and both were excellent. The food was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The skillet had the perfect combination of crispy potatoes, melted cheese, and eggs cooked just right. The country Benedict, with its crispy chicken, fluffy biscuit, and creamy gravy, was a standout dish—comfort food at its finest. Overall, Recipes Restaurant delivered a fantastic breakfast with great service in a cozy atmosphere. We’ll definitely be coming back!
