I already wrote the following response to Del Taco through their website, but it seems most places treat public/social media complaints a little more urgently, so I’d like others to know about my experience. Please pardon the abbreviations as I had a character limit and just don’t care to go back and enhance all of it.
TLDR; poor customer service and lukewarm food, but it had to be a one off because I’ve had great experiences before!
First - I LOVE Del Taco! I grew up in PHX and we were regulars at Taco Tuesday night - $1 per taco (unlimited) on The OC watch party nights (iykyk). The tacos always slap and the Del Scorcho runneth over.
I usually have a good experience at this DT location. Even if service is slow due to understaffing, the food is always hot and fresh and staff is friendly. Tonight at around 8:45 pm seemed to be opposite night :(
I placed my order on the app shortly before entering the drive thru line and telling cashier I placed a mobile order. No problems there. I got in line and waited for the 2 cars ahead of me - not a super long wait. Issues began as soon as I got to the window. The cashier greeted me with “11.57” (or whatever the total was, presumably, the total for the guest behind me in line). I said I had already paid and she said oh you had the mobile order. Grabs my bag says “thankyouHaveagreatnightmaam” and tries to shut the window. I asked if I could get my drink. “Oh. What did you order it didn’t come up on the screen” (I’ve worked in hospitality/quick service so not sure how that’s possible unless suddenly a KDS/POS routing issue). I got a strawberry sprite. Gave what appeared to be a large but I ordered the

I told the young lady that, I did not want to pull up because each time I do that the person runs off and there is always something missing and we either have to get out of the car or walk in to go get it. This defeats the purpose of utilizing drive-thru. The young lady seemed disappointed at my choice and closed the window. Another young lady appeared and asked me to pull up. I told her the same thing, but before I could even finish talking she begins to over talk me. I alerted her that she was doing that and she allowed me to finish. She said she guaranteed that I would have everything. I told her, again, I did not want to pull up from the window. She stared at me for a moment and then closed the window. After all of this deliberation, there was, still, no one behind me. Before she comes back, a car does pull behind me, (one car). The same upset woman comes back to the window and tells me that she understood what I was saying, but that I was rude. She said many other things and seemed like she was trying to put me in place. You could tell that she was upset over the power struggle, but I could not understand why. If I do not want to pull up then why get so angry and tell me I am rude for not wanting to do that after you have heard and so-call understood my reasons? So, to end it all, I told her that she was rude too. She told me to never hold up her line again and to have a nice day. Do I think she really wanted me to have a nice day? Naaaaa. I am seeing it hard to say “never hold my line up again” as if she is talking to a child, and then say have a nice day. She was just being cocky, and sarcastic because I chose to stay at the window. —and by the way I did need ketchup for my one order of fries, but received nine pc (portion control), packets. I can definitely tell what other customers, employees, and managers may have to deal with when it comes to her. I did not get her name, but she was African American, sort of stocky may be short to medium height and what seemed to me, short hair. Our young people need to be held accountable for providing excellent customer service. This happened Feb. 13, 2022...
Read moreThis is the worst location ever…every time I go there, the staff all have attitudes and they never get your order right. If there was a closer location I would go there instead of this place. I literally just got home from there, I ordered an epic bean and beef combo burrito with extra cheese and extra sour cream, 2 del tacos and a bean and cheese burrito, $13.04. I walk in, go to the counter and wait for about 10 minutes or more until I had to ask for service. It’s not like they were doing anything, I’m the only customer and there wasn’t anyone in drive thru. When I asked for service they all scattered around and said that the girl who just walked past me to go out to the lobby, she was the one who would help me. So she came back and asked if I wanted to order or something….um hello duh I’m only standing here because I have absolutely nothing else to do but hang around Del Tacos counter. So she took my order with an attitude and another girl brought it to the counter also with an attitude. I immediately grabbed the epic burrito out of the bag because I knew that they would mess it up as they always do. As I’m opening the burrito someone yells out from the back, that they put the extra cheese and sour cream in it already. I checked it anyway and as I figured, it was wrong, there was barely anything in it. I just said okay I’m not going to argue with you about it and left. When I got home I opened it up and took pictures of it. This is supposed to be the largest burrito they have, yet the one that they gave me barely had anything in it yet alone anything extra that I paid for. It was mostly tortilla than anything else. I really don’t like this location and the rude incompetent staff that they have….they literally have one job and they can’t even do that right…I don’t know how they’re still employed with them attitudes. I will not go back to this place and I don’t recommend this place at all unless you want the attitude that comes with the incorrect order.
