This place is pretty cute on the inside. Me and my friend went there for lunch there was a little bit of a wait but it was only about 10 minutes or so not too bad. They have a seating outside in a little patio area. But they also have seating inside as well. I'm sure as things get back to normal they'll add more tables on the inside because it was only a few. We ordered our food and it was out within about 10 to 15 minutes. I had the pork torta and it was really delicious. I think it was called the Cubano and it had shredded pork and also slices of ham in it it was pretty good. They do give you a side you could get chips and salsa or something else I can't remember. Also I did have the margarita and the margarita was really good although it was kind of in a small glass. It could have been in a more normal size glass. It was really nice that the chef came out and asked us how the food was personally and he was really friendly no one else there is working table service so it was nice of him to check in on us. They also have like some big goods in the back that you can grab and buy and go like tortillas and some Mexican pastries. I wouldn't really say this is a brunch place because it's more of a fast food takeout style restaurants. I also wouldn't really go with the large groups because they only have smaller tables and it might be hard to get a big table or put together several tables for a big party so I wouldn't take more than four people there with me. Also parking was kind of hard there was none in the front people are parking on the side of the street I had to find parking behind the building and walk a little bit but not too bad but just know there is more parking behind it. They do have beer and alcohol and soft drinks also. They give you this really cool menu that has a map of Tucson that shows you all the different neighborhoods in Tucson and they also tell you the names of all the neighborhoods so it is fun to find out where you live and what neighborhood you actually live in if you don't know already. They pretty much serve your food in a foil plate to make it easy to take if you have leftovers just ask for a top they don't serve on plates and they don't give you flat where you have to eat with plastic utensils so that kind of brings the niceness of the restaurant down a little bit for me. This place is just...
Read moreThis place is growing on me. They are not trying to be a fancy restaurant or anything over the top, which is great. Chill environment where you order up front, grab salsa from the bar, and wait for your food. Food is delicious and well priced. The menu has a lot to offer but isn't over whelming. There are some sleeper items like the summer special tacos. Good shrimp tacos as well. Salsa bar has everything you'd want. I do wish they had something more spicy but I understand most people do not like super spicy. Pickled onion and garlic is great of course and fresh onion with cilantro to your liking. The bowls are a solid choice for the cost and fresh enough. Black beans and rice are nothing amazing but pretty good. The toppings and seasonings for the meats are what make it great. Especially when its more food and cheaper than Chop Shop and others similar. Service is always friendly and accommodating. Food comes out fast. The environment isn't exactly a place I would wont to hangout at but I am fine eating there. A combination of pillowed booths with thin metal barn chairs isn't really my style but it works for the place. I recommend the tacos, bowls, and try their breakfast items. Mix up the flavors and give it a shot a few times. It'll...
Read moreThere’s a lot to recommend this place: it’s local, it’s cute, it sells its own bread and tortillas (mostly from Barrio bread: always delicious) plus some locally-made tchotchkes of the sort you see at trendy boutiques. The service was friendly and efficient. The menu looked promising. But we were mostly disappointed by the actual food.
We got the sunnyside tortamano, an inoffensive but bland breakfast sandwich served on a pleasant-enough soft spongy bread that made us hesitate to apply the provided salsa lest it get even softer and spongier. But even the salsa, unfortunately, wasn’t enough to save the sandwich from itself. We also had the Barrio Hollywood toast, which was a bit better but inexplicably served on soft, un-toasted bread. The breakfast papas and hot sauce were quite nice.
Overall the food is certainly not bad—and our disappointment could be put down to bad luck in picking from the menu or to our high expectations for the super-restaurant combo of El Charro and Barrio Bread. But based on our experience we won’t exactly be...
