I have been going to this restaurant sence I was 16 years old. Im 65 now. We hadn't been there is a few years and my husband and I decided to go. Their food was always really good. Home made everything. Let me tell you it has changed. Not for the better either. We seated ourselves on an empty table as instructed. The place was cold. I felt cold air the whole time we were there. The waitress said the back door was open because it's hot in the kitchen. When the front door opens cold air flows thru the whole place. Now the food. It was all cold. My eggs were cold, my French toast cold and tasteless. It just tasted of syrup. Their toast wasn't the same. They used to be thick pieces. Now they're thin. It was very disappointing. I got 2 cinnamon rolls to go. They used to be great. Huge, lots of icing. Here is a picture of what I got. No icing. I got 2 tiny containers of something white. It had no taste. The whole meal 2as pretty bad. The bacon I had was very hard. My husband said his sausage was half the size it used to be. We won't be going back for a long time. I would of had a better breakfast at mcdonalds with an...

I attended this establishment today. I was only there for a few minutes. I was greeted with “the horse is strong with this one” another waitress walked up and snickered. I replied the horse is strong with this one?? She said “oh she didn’t mean it that way”. I said yes she did and I left. Called and I heard” it’s her on the phone I think this is her. The manager proceeded to explain how he’s known the waitress for over 10 years and she’s not that way. When I asked “ by not that way do you mean rude?” He replied ma’am she’s not that way. She’s a freaking racist and so is the company yes I wore a wig but that doesn’t give her the right to be rude. The fact that the owner stood for this kind of treatment is beyond me. None of the pics they have pictured show non white people in them. It’s clear what is going on here. I will never give them my...

Yes this is the guy with the bike and back pack. I went in yesterday and was very dissapointed! No one offered to fix my food. Waitress said: ..."oh thats how it is" I ordered a chicken fried steak It was the worst presentation. It had no breading not crispy or crunchy it was just like a slab of beat meat with gravy on it. I had a horrible experience. Food came out quick but not much to the eyes let alone stomach. You cook sir should be ashamed of yourself to be called a cook. I was about to return it to you. If anyone wants a great chicken fried steak please do not order it there too expensive and it right out sucked! LAVERNAS has one of the best CFS if anyone is ever interested. I would fire you on the spot cook if that was my place! I will never return you cook sir need to go back to the...

Update: 11/16/24 Came in today for breakfast. I love chicken fried steak for breakfast and this establishment serves up a fantastic chicken fried steak breakfast. I had mine with decaf, buttered raisin toast, poached eggs and hash browns slathered in gravy. OMG good The most noteworthy aspect of my visit was the level of service l received from the server named Juliet. Incredibly rare to receive such a high level of genuine old fashioned customer service in the post pandemic world of indifference, truly refreshing! Original post: Good old fashioned locally owned cafe. I can't vouch for the lunch offerings, but breakfast is always top notched. IMHO: Eating breakfast at Gus's has been a treat for many years now.

Great diner. This is a must place to try when in Tucson. My waitress Amanda was great, very friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and the place it's self. I was lucky enough to show up on rice pudding day. As I was told by Amanda, it only happens occasionally. The proprietor was present and working like any one else on staff. I always like to see that at a restaurant. I wish I could have got back for another meal,as the menu was very abundant with options. Next year upon my yearly visit, this will be on the agenda for meals.
