I didn't love it at first--at first I thought my lobster tails were over-cooked. They were sticking to the shells, and the salad looked like it was steamed and dead. My order was almost $70, and I was pissed. I called the store, and talked to Sharon the manager. She told me that they don't do delivery, and she wasn't sure what I was talking about. So I drove 20 minutes to the restaurant to show her my receipt. "Ohhhhh" she says "From DoorDash??" She seemed to understand what happened then. She goes to a register and shows me a time stamp from when my order was picked up by the 3rd party affiliate. They picked it up a long time ago, and it probably wasn't the restaurant's fault. The manager explained that she needed to make things right by me-- she wasn't able to offer a refund because the payment was somewhat through them, but she'll remake my whole order for me. I also noticed that it wasn't even the manager who was concerned about me not being happy with the food-- I saw at least three cooks in the back, poking their heads out of the kitchen, wondering how they can help. While I waited, they offered me Jamaica, chips, and salsa. The manager comes back out, and opens the to-go box and asks me if it's okay. It looked a thousand times different from what I got from the delivery. Everything looked wonderful, and she apologized for my experience again, telling me she hoped I'd come back. AND THAT'S HOW YOU GIVE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I was pretty floored, and I left happy that they did this, even though it was clearly the delivery person's mistake. I won't go anywhere else for Mexican seafood! Awesome...
Read moreHad a hankering for pulpo and wanted to try a restaurant where I had never dined before. The brightly colored building as well as the photos and accolades from others’ reviews here set my expectations high. But, meh… I ordered the Garlic Octopus from the impressively complete menu. The poor beast was overcooked and the bottoms of the tentacles were burnt. The “garlic butter sauce” was more like oil with grilled diced garlic — not exactly a sauce and a bit overwhelming for the meat. The rice was rather boring, the meal unmemorable. At $25, I was expecting something more elaborate, a more interesting recipe.
I don’t recall what my girlfriend had, but she wasn’t very enthusiastic about it and I didn’t bother taking a photo of her meal.
As for the service, our waiter was polite, I suppose, but wasn’t exactly engaging or attentive, as if he couldn’t care less whether we dined there or not. At one point he started spraying down the table next to ours with a nasty smelling cleaner, apparently unaware it was attenuating our appetites.
Speaking of cleaning, the restaurant interior seemed a tad dingy, like it could use a good spring cleaning, but was otherwise charming enough. They had some radio station playing a rather aggressive and off-putting music, not something I care to hear while...
Read moreThis is ridiculous but I guess it's my fault for not paying attention to the bill before paying.
As we were leaving I realized I hadn't been given a copy of my receipt.
At first she couldn't understand what I was asking but I was able pantomime enough to get her to understand although she had no problem taking the order even with a substitution.
When I looked at the receipt I realized why I wasn't given my copy of my receipt.
My friend ordered the fish & chips ($15) and an appetizer of chips & salsa (($7) (totally ridiculous)). When I asked about the charge(s) our waitress suddenly couldn't understand English except to say that's what she ordered. I later found out it was the rice and beans that was substituted for coleslaw. We were never told there was a charge for a substitution.
After the server/waitress handed me a second smaller itemized receipt she suddenly became too busy and bewildered to help or understand anything else.
The waitress and one of the cooks started talking to themselves and then to a man in a red shirt in Spanish.
I asked if anybody still spoke English and the man in the red shirt ask what I needed. After explaining my question to him he told me that I was charged $5 for the substitution.
Rather than get upset I just...
