Well, I used to LOVE Magpies -- over ten years -- and was a regular at the Speedway & Swan location. Until the owners closed this central feastery.
Now it's a bit more of a wait to get a pizza delivered to my home (Speedway & Craycroft) because evidently we're in their no-man's land between 4th Ave. and Houghton locations.
At first, the extra half hour more on delivery time, up from 30 min. to an hour, was still worth the wait for the yummiest pizza in town.
However, tonight, on a Tuesday not a busy Saturday night, my grumbling stomach alerted me that the Houghton Magpies was running unusually late. 90 min. past ordering. So I called to check in.
What a mistake! Rarely have I been spoken to so rudely, aggressively. This dude acted like he was doing me a personal favor to take my order and deliver to my neighborhood! Gee, I thought an exchange of money for goods was called business, and adequate customer service, like manners, a fair expectation.
Hey, Dude. This is a systems problem created when the Speedway & Swan parlor closed but no clear plan was determined as to how to continue to serve their once loyal Central customers. Don't take your frustration out of me! Tell your manager to figure it out.
It's a disappointment to lose access to such a Tucson Weekly local favorite pizzaria, but after tonight's disagreeable interaction -- feh! I...
Read moreHonestly I'm shocked at the experience I had with this branch. Our order came up to 67$ and we left an 11$ tip for this place. Once we came in to pick up the food we were told there was no sauce for the cheesecake because they were out. Bummed but not a huge loss- it happens. But when we got in the car we found out that a lot of things were missing in our order. The pizza had no sauce despite us checking for extra, the breadsticks had an option for extra seasoning and were bland, the pizza was cut in such a way where there were two small slivers of pizza... It just felt like someone took out their frustration on our order. My boyfriend went back in to ask to see if there was anything that could be done and the guy at the register (he had black rimmed glasses and a baseball cap) yelled at him.
I try to be understanding of workers having a hard day but to have paid as much as we did and to have received the service we did essentially left us feeling frustrated. The food was hugely a disappointment and we ended up trashing most of it because of how bad it was. UPDATE: Very appreciative of the quick response from management regarding this situation! They helped out immensely with addressing the situation and were empathetic as well. We had eaten a pizza from another location and loved the taste so this came up as an odd experience. Thanks so much...
Read moreThis place has EXTREMELY terrible service and I will not be ordering from them again. If you want to be left guessing whether your pizza is truly dairy free then this is the place for you. I have a severe dairy allergy and decided to order because of other reviews about their dairy free option. I called to place my order and was told they don’t deliver to my address and that I should place my order through grub hub. I explained that I needed a dairy free pizza and the lady assured me that I could indicate it in the grub hub app and the pizza would get delivered. Therefore I noted in the instructions to make it dairy free and add chicken. When it arrived the pizza had no chicken or ticket indicating it was dairy free. I called and they told me “if the pizza looks different it’s dairy free” then “the cook says it is” and then after talking to the manager that they “don’t read any of the comments/special instructions when orders are placed through the app.” The manager was SO rude and didn’t care at all that I had done everything they asked and after waiting 1.5 hours I ended up paying for a large pizza that went in the trash. Save your money and order...
