Sauce Pizza & Wine — Restaurant in Tucson

My husband has wanted to try this restaurant for quite sometime, asking me about it several times. I explained that I had gone with some co-workers in 2007 and have not been back since. Here is why.

We purchased 1 salad, 1 pizza, 1 meatballs and noodles, 1 med drink, and 1 large drink. It was $46.

The Salad: Mixed greens, tomatoes, balsamic dressed, gorgonzola added. The balsamic was not as sweet as I was expecting to offset the gorgonzola. The salad was $7, the gorgonzola was $1.50. I could not eat it, I should have asked for the dressing on the side, the salad was over dressed and the balsamic was so acidic that I started coughing the first few bites.

The Pizza: I got a Suprema, minus the red bell pepper. I asked for hand stretched dough. The pepperonis did have a bit of heat and an okay flavor. The sausage was grainy. I have never had that sort of sausage before, there was no meaty texture to it. The dough was boring and unremarkable, I couldn't taste any yeastiness.

The Pasta: I did not try the meatballs. The pasta was cooked Al Dente, just as it should be. There was VERY little sauce. I know there are some that say the sauce should be barely present, however I like sauce as does my husband. The middle of the pasta had sauce, the outer part of the bowl did not. The pasta and the sauce were most likely the best part of the meal. My husband did eat all of his pasta, mopping up the sauce with my roll that came with my salad, his roll that came with his pasta, and an extra roll he purchased for .50 cents. He said the rolls were unremarkable. The crust was nice and chewy, the inside had a very open texture, I think it should have been proofed at least one more time to encourage the yeast to develop more flavor.

All in all, I give Sauce one start for the very nice staff, the cleanliness of the restaurant, the low music, the muted TV. I would recommend you skip this restaurant. Go...

I ordered catering a few weeks ago, tried to reach out directly to the location on the 11th but no response unfortunately so I will post what happened publicly:

This was a horrible catering experience that I honestly think we deserve at least a partial refund for. My order was ready 30 minutes past the promised time of 2:00pm.

I was also charged $50 for drinks that said on the website at the time of ordering that they were included with the party pack. The website wasn’t working when we ordered so we had to order by phone and it wasn’t told to us that anything about the party packs had changed.

Then, they gave us soda cans with no extra cups or ice so I had to call someone to bring me ice.

This entire experience was a fiasco and it messed up the whole beginning of my event. Because the food was 30 minutes late, I couldn’t do my makeup for photos and videos, and I couldn’t do a sound check at my venue, so it threw off the timing of the event and all my photos.

This is unacceptable. If you say something will be ready at 2pm, it should be ready. 5-10 minutes would have been more understandable, but 30? For an order given more than a week in advance? Extremely disappointing. No one said sorry about it being late either, the whole 30 minutes I was waiting there. Just excuses, no apologies.

The lack of a response since the 11th is also disappointing. I was a frequent customer for my own meals, which is why I chose this place to cater an event. I won’t be giving anymore...

We had the summer salad, pizza and wine several. I told cashier that I had never order a pizza before so how does the special work. She said any pizza including create your own and a salad so I did create your own pizza. She charged for all kinds of extras hatbwere barely on it including a charge for fresh mozzarella that wasn't even on the pizza...Seriously! Then I asked for avocado I on the salad that I expected to be charged for but they only put 4 tiny pieces on the salad and rhe bowl was not even half full....that's so bad! So honestly cashier needs to explain menu better especially when asked like I did. So the $29 special cost me over $40!! This whole thing was ridiculous! They even gave me a hard time e for sitting g at a table waiting g for my friend who got lost finding this place. Not my fault they were so busy that they didn't have enough tables. They need enclose the patio. The service rating is due to the cashier, not the young lady that kept checking on us was great. Honestly I was just VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED....SO RIDICULOUS this cost. Maybe post what is meant for the special or train...
