If you’re on the hunt for an authentic Thai experience that feels like a mini vacation, this spot has got you covered! From the moment you walk in, the smiling, attentive staff make you feel right at home. They’re always ready with recommendations, and service is impressively quick, so you’ll be enjoying your meal in no time. Bonus points: parking is ample, which is a rare gem!
The tables and chairs are all black but the wall design is fun and playful, with colorful, cartoony wall art that adds to the cozy (yes, slightly snug) atmosphere. And who could miss the tuk-tuk inside! It’s a great touch, especially for kids who would love to hop on for a photo—though unfortunately, one of its wheels is broken, so it’s strictly look-but-don’t-touch.
On to the food: we started with “Ping” — savory and juicy chicken or pork skewers with a dipping sauce that has a kick of spice. Absolutely addictive! Then, we had the “Pad Thai, street-style with shrimp”, which was cooked perfectly. The noodles, shrimp, and a squeeze of lime created a flavor combo that’s hard to beat. We also got the “Hoy Joh”, if you love dimsum, you’re gonna love this bite sized treat! The Som Tum Thai salad balanced all the salty and savory notes of the other dishes beautifully. We washed it all down with a Thai iced coffee, which was a beautiful marriage of milk and coffee and they’re refillable! My friends tried the “Chinese broccoli with Pork belly and the Pad Mee Leung and to them both didn’t disappoint.
They’ve got a somewhat wide alcohol selection, too ( cocktails, beer and wine), if you’re in the mood for a drink to pair with your meal. All in all, this place is a little slice of Thailand with amazing food, a welcoming vibe, and a few quirks that make it unique. Definitely...
Read moreThis was great Thai food!!! I tried other Thai restaurants in Tucson and they quite didn't cut it. I was very familiar with the Thai food scene in So. Cal. and that was the standard by which I judge food.
First off, was impressed with the iced tea....amazing taste and it was ice cold. Other places add ice just before they bring it too your table. Not here, you can tell it was cold more much longer before it was brought to your table. Some of the spices they use in their food is what they use to infuse their ice tea with flavor. 1st time having such flavorful iced tea anywhere.
Then we started with the shrimp spring rolls with some peanut sauce on the side. Generous portions for sure. Lots of flavor and the peanut sauce pairs so well with it. Fresh and light.
For the main course I got the Pad Kee Mao Beef. The other plate had shrimp with much thinner noodles. All the flavors were very well balanced. Nothing was overpowering any other flavor. The wide noodles perfect for this dish for flavor and presentation. All this was about a month ago. Just to see if there was consistency we went again to a different location and everything was the same. I was impressed with the consistency across the board. From the presentation all the way to the flavors. I can say this is my favorite Thai place in Tucson. Many other Thai places failed to impress or where just ok. Not Tuk Tuk Thai. That's why they get 5 stars across the board!
Looking forward to trying other dishes...
Read moreI have been to many quality Thai food venues especially internationally. This place is below average. Two hostesses couldn't understand basic English and therefore you weren't able ask to ask them about menu choices. I was curious about Volcano Chicken, thinking it was savory and spicy, it was one of their specials. The tiniest of thumbnail pictures was shown on the menu, and hardly any description of the dish, so I asked the waitress about the sauce it was made with, she didn't know, nor did another hostess know or couldn't even understand simple English. The dish came and I was so disappointed, firstly it was sweet and sour (very sugary sweet) the worst part was it was breaded chicken that had been fried and I would NEVER order fried chicken, it didn't work for me. It was late, they were closing so I just ate it. I was extremely disappointed and fed misled as nowhere on the menu did it say it was fried chicken in a sweet and sour sauce. The Pumpkin Curry dish my friend ordered was average, alright, but nothing special at all. All dishes were very salty, maybe hiding a rather bland base. The menu could be considered deceiving due to lacking any proper description of the dishes. I won't be visiting this place again and would not recommend it if you want quality, accurate Thai food. Only one hostess at the end when we were leaving was...
