Upon seeing a lot of favorable reviews on Google and in Facebook groups my wife and I determined we wanted to check it out since we enjoy other seafood boil places in Tulsa. On a random Tuesday my wife suggest we check them out and I obliged. It was a little late in the evening, around 7:50pm or so. There was one other table on the bat side hanging out and us. Throughout out visit they served togo orders and a table or two of dine in groups.
The lady at the front counter was friendly and helpful as she suggest something I intended on order for us to split, the #1. She did what every owner and manager would like and tried to upsell us on a side of catfish to try since she says it is good, but we declined as it would be more than we could eat and I shouldn't have fried food.
When our food arrived it was visually very appealing and I was excited for our meal. We opted for the original since my wife can not do spicy since having a surgery and I like polar opposite of the spectrum, scorched earth. My wife knows me all too well and requested a side of the spicy mix for me. The first thing I did when the food arrived was sample the spicy mix and although it was flavorful it was barely warm. I shrugged it off and went in for a shrimp and sampled it as it came in the platter and it was also barely warm.
I noticed after my wife took a few shrimp, a cluster of crab, and an egg that we short we one crab cluster and one egg. We quickly informed the server/counter hostess of our findings a gentleman came out shortly with not only our missing items but an extra cluster of crab and an extra egg . He apologized and informed us they have a couple trainees in the back. I really respected his honesty and the extras to help compensate their error. The couple of clusters and eggs were served warmer than originally served food which was a plus.
Onto the food itself, my wife felt the corn was overcooked and thought the potatoes were somewhat sour. I didn't partake in the corn and potatoes because I try to limit my carb intake and starchy items are not ideal for me. The crab legs, shrimp, and sausage were good but would've been so much better heated up properly. I never knew I was missing a hard boiled egg in boils until this visit, I really enjoyed them.
When we finally decided to tap out the server/hostesses said she'll prepare it to go, they wrap up the top of the platter and put it in a bag for transport which is a nice personal touch you don't find at the other places we have frequented. I can appreciate small business and friendly people that truly care, which I honestly felt in my visit.
Overall, we will be back to give them a second opportunity to wow us as I know from friends and others have conveyed they have the potential to do so. If the food was warmed up and served hot from the git go they would've earned a solid 4 star when taking into account our entire expierence. Personally, if the trainees get it down and get everything right the first time it would be a home run. Don't count them out because it honestly has...
Read moreEDIT: In response to the owner or manager replying to my review; well I think that the problem in communication, if you're looking for an answer to where that was, would have been with your staff who definitely did not communicate that the air conditioner was not working properly. Had we known that in the beginning we would have just taken our food to go. But is it just continued to be warmer and warmer, and it was definitely well above 74°, it was definitely not a pleasant dining experience. Perhaps in the future when it is hot outside and your air conditioner is not working properly you could give your customers a heads up when they come in to dine. I'm going to add a star to my review because you did respond to me, but under the circumstances that you described your staff should have handled that differently.
The food was very good. I would love to come back again. This was my first visit. Unfortunately it may also be my last visit. Though the food was delicious, the dining room was uncomfortably warm. My friend and I came together and we agreed that it was just definitely too warm in the dining room. Another couple that was walking past asking us what we had ordered because they were thinking about what they were going to order, also commented on how hot it is in the dining room. She said she went to the register to ask them to do something about how hot it was. I told her that I had actually already asked for them to adjust the thermostat and I was told that they are not authorized to do that. I asked if anyone here authorized to adjust the thermostat when a customer, and in this case more than one customer, is complaining that it's too hot in the restaurant? She said that the only people who are authorized to adjust the thermostat or not there at the time. So you guys are just going to let the dining room be uncomfortably hot for your guests when we're eating? And to have your staff not authorized to adjust the thermostat as needed while guests are in the restaurant spending a lot of money, because definitely the food there is not cheap, seems like you're really trying to cut costs in all the wrong places. The food is delicious, the portions were great, and the staff was friendly. The place seemed to be clean and neat. But it's just so hot in there! Today was a 90° day. There should be air conditioning running! ESPECIALLY when customers are telling you that it is too hot! I will be happy to increase the number of stars in my rating if management can kindly let me know that they are planning on changing the thermostat policy. I would love to give a much higher rating and I would definitely...
Read moreThe food here is really good...HOWEVER, they have the MOST AMAZING EMPLOYEE EVER and her name is CANDACE! Candace's customer service goes WAYYY above and beyond (see my "Second Review" below). FIRST REVIEW: Our first visit was on 3/20/2022. We were in town to visit my sick brother-in-law...my nephews highly recommended this place. On this visit, they were very busy...we asked if one of the empty tables could be cleaned and was abruptly told it would be a few minutes. Then, while we were waiting on the food, we reviewed our receipt and noticed that we were charged a 3% Service Tax(???) AND for the butter AND the seasoning. When our order was taken, we were not informed of any extra charges...SMH. However, our food was delivered to our table and we were VERY PLEASED at the quality and taste of the seafood, the sausage, and the vegetables (you get TONS of potatoes...LOL). SECOND REVIEW: Our second visit was on 4/1/2022. We were back in town (for my brother-in-law's funeral). This time we decided to place an order online for pick-up. When we arrived, Candace (the young girl at the counter) asked us how was our day. We stated that we were back in town for a funeral. At that point, and without any hesitation, she immediately came around the counter and gave us hugs! Additionally, due to a mistake on my part, I was due a refund on my receipt. I asked Candace if she could give me the refund in cash...I explained that I was out of cash and needed money for the Turnpike toll. She stated that she could not give me cash back. However, she told me to wait a minute....she left the counter but returned and then handed me 6 one dollar bills. I looked at my refund receipt and informed her that she had given me too much of refund. She then stated that the cash was HER money that she was giving me to use for the Turnpike Toll. I was sooo moved by this (I am about to cry now, again). I asked her to re-run the receipt so that I could tip her that amount (and more), but she refused. Her kindness impressed me tremendously...so much so, that I had to write this really long review! (BTW, I am still trying to pay reward her for her kindness...I am about to call the restaurant to see if I can set up a tip/payment...
