My 10-year-old daughter and I LOVE this place. This is our place. There is a table there by the fireplace and we always have the best talks at that table. We go through the line, we look at their bagels and muffins and other breakfast food on display. I usually get Everything Jalapeno which is the best bagel and I am basically a bagel connoisseur and YES their bagels ARE superior in my opinion. Their bagels make me want to eat very slowly and enjoy every bite. My daughter always gets a giant chocolate muffin, hot; she always has to take part of it home and eats it for breakfast the next morning. She orders independently, even gets herself a coffee. The employees are so nice, professional. And their prices are very reasonable, especially for what you get.
My daughter and I get our coffees (you can choose your own coffee cup just like you're at home; they have a good variety of coffees and their coffee is excellent and yes you can get as much as you want), they bring us our food, and we talk and then we talk some more about how we're going to walk down Brookside "like city girls" with our coffees (that's what she says). There are soft tiny twinkling blue Christmas lights on the ceiling running diagonally in grids and the lighting is perfect because it is mostly natural.
The atmosphere somehow creates a feeling of security, familiarity, even if you don't know anyone--like a niche, a regular neighborhood gathering place where all are welcome. It's bustling but also private, especially how they've done the seating. It's fast paced, but it isn't rushed feeling at all--and no matter how busy it ever is, I've never had to wait aside from being in line which is no biggie. There's also a patio on the side and you can bring your pets to breakfast! A great mix of people.

Read moreI sent an email to the restaurant about this incident and haven’t heard back.
I went in with my twin toddlers for lunch one day. The woman working the cash register took our order and commented on how cute my twins are. I am used to be people commenting on them - it happens anytime we go out but today was the most uncomfortable I’ve ever been with it. After taking our order she followed us to the table where she continued talking about how cute they were. She asked their names and how old they were. I thought it was a bit overbearing but didn’t think much of it. She brought us our food and then walked to another table and said “have you guys seen these twins? Cutest kids ever”. Again a lot but not really concerning. After this she went to the other side of the dining area (not by the counter) and just stared at us. It started to me feel weird so we tried to eat quick. After a few minutes of this she comes back up and asks to take my twins’ picture. This was where I got incredibly creeped out. I said no you may not, thank you. She said okay and walked away and kept watching us from behind the counter and then we left.
This incident was very unprofessional and made me very uncomfortable as a mom. We will not be returning to this location.
Edited to say: I saw the reply and they have confused with someone else. My brother has never worked there - I don’t have a brother old enough to...
Read moreI really like the store as far as layout, offerings and aesthetics - love all the old pictures on the walls. The customer service was awful. Everyone that worked there with the exception of the cashier, looked at you and turned away. Very grumpy for folks in food service. One guy even stared, grimaced and walked away. Also, a couple of the guys were griping at each other. If they have a problem, they should take it to the back. I don't think employees should EVER gripe at each other in front of customers.
I also don't understand why the A/C is blowing hard. I can understand if it's 100 degrees outside. But it's not, it's early morning, 7am and there's cloud cover. It sucks walking into a breakfast place and getting blasted with AC - there's also a vent directly over where you order blowing hard.
I'm used to the friendly atmosphere of the location in OKC in the Leadership Square building. I cannot say enough about the staff there. Friendly, welcoming - EVERY one greets the customer each morning BY NAME. These folks really do a great job of making every customer feel like they matter. What a wonderful way to kick...
