CAVEAT EMPTOR! (Buyer beware)
Let me say I have mixed emotions about this place. I found this place on yelp during my travels in Tulsa. It was the highest rated place and not too far from my hotel. So for me it was a no brainer. I ordered my uber and I was on my way
As soon as I pulled up, I could see this was a nicely decorated place. Once I stepped inside I was in shock. It was one of the nicest establishments I've been in. So right Wm away I had high expectations about the food.
I was seated at the sushi bar immediately. Then the server comes over and gives me the beer list... asahi, sapporo, kirin ichiban, and orion. Yum! And yes please! I got the orion for 2 reasons. 1- it's delicious, 2- it was the only one that came in the large bottle.
My expectations kept growing. After my first glass, I was ready to order. For those that know me, know I'm a sashimi guy. I also like the weird stuff, uni, toro, mackerel and Spanish mackerel, etc. I started ordering and boom.... they don't have any of it. =( so I order salmon, tuna, and yellowtail nigiri. Fish quality was decent. It wasn't that watery prepackaged stuff a lot of AYCE places use. I was still hungry, so I ordered a tuna roll with just rice and jalapeño. Then the sushi chef sold me on some Ono with a side of house made sesame yuzu sauce. This sauce was amazing. My only real gripe was the ginger. It was like it dehydrated and rehydrated.
Now on to my mixed emotions. While they didn't have any of the stuff I liked, I did like what I had with the exception of the ginger. I can be pretty chatty and got into a fun convo with the server and sushi chef. Then I had to do it, I had to ask what was your with this beautiful place not having the "ethnic" stuff, if you will. They said it's the locals, they don't eat it. They've tried bringing in United a few times and it goes to waste. As for the lack of toro, mackerel m, and oysters, the locals don't like sashimi. So it all made sense.
I do recommend this place.

Read moreI am writing this review six months later after visiting this restaurant because I am still disgusted with the way our waitress treated us, and I really think that management needs to hear about this. I never asked for her name but she’s an emo pickme girl who flirted with my boyfriend right in front of me. “this plate is really hot so don’t touch it or I’ll fight you” is what she said to my boyfriend. I would be completely understanding and forgiving if she just said the plate was hot and that was it, but the fact that she had to add I’ll fight you is so weird to me. In my head I’m thinking, ‘girl you do not know this man at all why are you talking to him like that, especially if he’s already with another woman.’ Please don’t encourage your staff to be flirty for tips.
After I mentioned the fact to my boyfriend I could hear the staff laughing in the background right afterwards with her in the group. It felt like a highschool clique and I wasn’t invited. I’m sure they heard what I said because we were the only ones in the restaurant.
My boyfriend got teriyaki and we both liked it. I got the sushi and it was so bad i only ate half of it. I felt nauseous and I had to stop eating the sushi. It was surprisingly really dry and the ingredients just didn’t seem of either high quality or freshness. (Maybe the waitress food poisoned me.)
The only positive things I have to say is that my partner enjoyed their meal and the architecture itself is...
Read moreI happened to be doing some business on Brookside the other day... okay, so I was picking up some new glasses because I'm getting old... when I noticed Sushi Hana across the street. Ever a fan of sushi, and always looking for a new place to try, I took advantage of the opportunity. First impression was... it's dark inside. Not the creepy uncomfortable noir dark like a vintage detective flick... the "let's meet someplace where no one can see us even if they're sitting at the next table" kind of dark. Honestly, it was a little much for me personally, and I almost whipped out my phone's light to see the menu by. A little ambience can go a long way, and this went too far, again, in my personal opinion. Now, on to the important stuff. Service was great, with my server paying close attention to me and making sure I was taken care of. Not being overly hungry, I settled for a basic Philadelphia Roll and the eel roll. Both were solid and well done. Flavors were all on point, and I was pleased with every aspect of the flavor profiles. The size of the pieces and quantity were a little smaller than most sushi places I habit, but I still came away satisfied. I'm quite sure some of their more signature rolls would be awesome, and if opportunity presents, I plan on finding out at some point in the future. Overall, I was satisfied on all points of my grading scale, and give Sushi Hana a 4/5 stars. BTW... I didn't take any pics because.... well, it was...
