Taqueria La Primera — Restaurant in Turlock

When I order from a taqueria and ask for "extra spicy," it's very common that nothing happens there. Maybe they add pico de gallo, but otherwise it seems like most places shrug off that request.

Taqueria La Primera is in my hall of fame now. Not only for doing their best to give my order some kick, but also for just serving some great-tasting food. Lots of places around Turlock (even the taco trucks) are jacking up prices, but keeping quality the same. I felt like La Primera was the perfect balance of price, flavor, and quality. The asada in my burrito tasted like it had just come off the grill and the flavor was outstanding with that extra spice. I had to stop myself from ordering another one for later.

I ordered 3 carne asada tacos and a coca-cola. The meat in the tacos was different it seemed like they tried to use a higher quality steak meat which I appreciate and it did have a little flavor but not enough and still wasn't good just mediocre at best. there was barely any cilantro on the tacos and also barely any onion, greasy tortillas and a weak weak salsa that didn't taste good the tacos were also very small and expensive I had to have a second lunch at Popeyes afterwards just to get full.

The food was so good I forgot to take a picture. The atmosphere provided by the owner was amazing and friendly. He clearly knew his customers and enjoyed the conversations with them, but wasn’t interrupting anyone. The food was incredible. I’m not typically a wet burrito person, but something drew my attention to it and I’m glad it did. They use a green sauce for the topping, and the perfect (read not excessive) amount of sour cream. I don’t think I could have asked for a better portion size too. Perfect for someone hungry without being so much. Ate everything in store and walked out very happy.
