Restaurant piques. Oh, it may seem a trifling thing, but a glass of tea at a sit down restaurant is anything but. First, anywhere below the Mason-Dixon line, tea means you will receive a glass of tea brewed with several cups of sugar. Sweet beyond cotton candy. You must specify unsweet tea to get plain, brewed tea with no sugar. In our travels beyond the South, asking for sweet tea results in confusion. Typically you get unsweet with sugar packets. It's not the same. That really isn't what I'm even writing about, but it is a funny anomaly I've experienced. What bothers me is getting a glass of unsweet tea with melted ice. A true career server can get it right. A glass of unsweet tea packed bottom to top with ice. Cold. Non-diluted, perfect unsweet tea. Only one server has this art, and it is a true art, perfected in all the many hundreds of glasses of unsweet tea I've ordered. Even more impressive, the second glass being delivered is as perfectly made as the first. The server is Taylor. The restaurant is Jim 'N Nick's. He does this automatically. You never even have to ask. He just gets it right. The pictures are of my first glass and the second. Marvel at the perfection. It's rare indeed.

I really enjoyed this place. This is the second stop on my BBQ tour of Tuscaloosa. We started with the little muffins and a small order of onion rings. Both were very good. I ordered the 3 meat plate with Chicken breast, Ribs and Brisket. The brisket was really good had a nice smoke ring and the rub had really good flavor. Definitely was impressed with that especially for not being in Kansas City. The ribs were really good as well, a little fatty but good. Loved the flavor of the sauce and the smoke flavor. The chicken had excellent flavor. The only thing I am not a fan of is pulled chicken. Because I also want to taste the skin for the rub. But I enjoyed it and the Alabama white sauce was really good as well. My sides were baked beans and the BBQ corn. The baker beans were the best I have had on my trip here in Alabama and my trip last week in GA. The corn was spectacular as well, I love how it is rolled in the white sauce. Next time I am in Tuscaloosa I will be back. Great Job Jim ‘N Nick’s and great job to Tracy our waitress she was awesome.

I love Jim & Nick’s but it’s frustrating that they close so early in a college town. The times on the website and door need to be changed to reflect their hours. That being said, we still love to eat here. Their cheese biscuits are to die for. Their BBQ is also good. I like the bbq pork salad or potato. My daughter usually gets their chicken tenders and her fiancé ALWAYS gets their Mac n Cheese with a side of bbq pork. Then he mixes them together. He says a waitress told him how good that is and he wholeheartedly agrees. Maybe one day I’ll try it. Their desserts are also good. My daughter loves their banana pudding and I really like the lemon pie. Be sure to get an order of cheese biscuits to go. They will be great the next morning with coffee. Cut them in half and toast them up. SO GOOD!

Tonight's experience was not one that we normally have at this location. To be completely transparent it was about 45min before closing. To start off, we had to wait a while to order. Then, our waitress told my daughter that they were out of burgers. She's pretty picky but was able to get chicken strips and fries instead (yeah, she's pretty basic) When they brought our food, my wife received fresh fruit instead of the Mac-N-cheese she had ordered. She asked the server about it and they replied "I guess we're out of that too". I ordered the Carolina-pork plate with collard greens and coleslaw. Mine was delicious all the way around. Not a single complaint on my end. Water was even fresh and crisp. We had to wait quite a while, and ask a couple of times, for some bread. Then, while my youngest daughter was eating her fruit, she said, "daddy, this grape looks like someone has already eaten it". It was completely obvious that someone had bitten her grape in half. It was a grape towards the bottom of her bowl, so we didn't see it until she ate most of the other fruit. And yes, I'm 100% sure my daughter didn't eat it. I brought it up to the manager and tried to make sure he understood that I wasn't asking for anything to be free or even reduced. I was just bringing it to his attention that someone had eaten off of food going out to the customers. (I will say, these were by far the biggest green grapes I've ever seen in my life. Almost as big as plums) Another party at our table also stated that he saw the employee that was cleaning the tables off, eating food from people's plates. I don't know the person and I'm not judging them at all, but if that was the case, I'd recommend doing it where nobody can see you, at the very least. There was also a table behind us that was complaining heavily about the fact that they were out of the sides they wanted also. They were being overly harsh in my opinion. The lady complaining kept going on and on about it and wouldn't get past it. So much so, it sounds like the manager comped their whole meal, minus the alcohol. The manager ended up comping our daughter's meal because of the bitten grape but I didn't really think that was required, nor asked for, but appreciated. Overall, a less than perfect experience. We will come back to eat here in the near future. We really like the food. This wasn't the best experience, but it wasn't...

Excellent food, great service, nice atmosphere, and not too pricey! I had a baked potato and double side of greens, it was all delicious. My husband tried the pulled pork sandwich, with sides of coleslaw and fries, also all delicious! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and am excited to take family here when they visit.

I liked the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, and the smells pouring in from the kitchen were enough to get anyone excited about dinner. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, we couldn't have asked for better service.

UPDATE: I was visiting this restaurant again, and the side portions were what I would expect, so I'm giving this place the benefit of the doubt that my previous experience with the odd side item portion size was a one-off (or maybe they read this and adjusted, which would be extra impressive).

previous experience details left here for reference: "I think the only thing that wasn't quite perfect for me was the price of the extra sides. I think it made sense for some of them, but $3 for about a half cup of greens was surprising - I'm glad I doubled up on them (I was still pleased though, because they were so darn tasty). I would suggest the portion size of side items be slightly larger, especially when they are ordered a...

Had it for the first time today. Forgot to take a photo but I plan on going back more often. My friend had nachos and I had the beef brisket sandwich. The nachos were pretty big serving. Definitely big enough to count as a full meal for one person. Pork was tender and juicy and the flavor was great.

I asked the server when ordering what was his favorite thing on the menu. He said his was the beef brisket and he gave me other options that people like to order. I had already been interested in the brisket so I got it as a sandwich, and I was beyond pleased. When i got the sandwich it looked simple but it really didnt need a lot to make it a great sandwich. When biting into it you were left alone with the smoked brisket, a bite of pickle and a perfect amount of bbq sauce. I believe if the sandwich had more it would have taken away from the beauty of the flavors it already possessed. The brisket itself is amazing. If you cant tell by now, I am loving the brisket. The smoke on it was there but not overpowering in the least bit. The bbq sauce complimented the smoke and flavor of the beef very well. The sauce tastes fantastic on it's own but when putting it with the brisket made it phenomenal.

Bottom line, if you like bbq or know someone who does, this is a must try when you...
