OMG!!! For the love of doughnuts and delicious desserts, prioritize this place if you haven't visited it yet, and just visit it, like right now!!!
Well, not right now, since the place is open only 3 days a week - Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and only until 3 p.m., so make sure you keep yourself free to make a run to this place, and get these 'round food, for every mood' creations (IYKYK).
A friend of mine told me about this place, and I am so very grateful to her for that. I recently visited the place at 11 AM on Friday, and there was a queue (a good sign). Already, I could see a couple of their doughnuts were almost about to be over. I was hoping I get what I want by the time I reach to the counter to order.
I ordered 4 doughnuts - 3 sweet, 1 Savory. And oh ya, all their doughnuts are filled, non glazed (which I prefer always) Jalapeño Cheddar (Savory), Tiramisu, Ube Mango Sago and Yuzu Earl Grey (literally got the last one of this). Wei's doughnuts are light as air, filled heavily, and the flavors are so well balanced. Jalapeno Cheddar - Cheesy, with perfect jalapeño balance for the kick, and crunchiness from the sesame seeds Tiramisu encompassed all necessary aspect - the mascapone, the lady finger as topping, the coffee flavor... yum yum yummm!!! Ube Mango Sago was such a delightful combination, the sago balls adding the playfulness, the mango adding summer vibe, and the ube not overpowering in flavor at all Yuzu Earl Gray - the one I got lucky with the last piece. The citric flavor of yuzu perfectly blended with the tea was such a beautiful flavor play... one needs to try to experience it.
I also got to try a sample of freshly baked banana bread which was so very moist. We were told Wei makes the everything from scratch, and ensure the balance is right.... and it shows in her product.
For someone creating such amazing doughnuts, we must support her, and trust me, it will be every penny, every bit worth it.
Will I visit again? HECK YAAA!!! Got to try everything she bakes!
Pro tip - Go as soon as they open, which is 9 AM on T & F and 10 AM on S, so that you can pick what you want, and not be left with fewer options. Yes, the doughnuts, cakes and mochis just get sold by the second....
Read moreThe HYPE was real and hearing about it for so long I decided to check it out..I got there at 10am when it opened and there was already a line. No biggie at all . Stayed in line for about 30-45 mins and finally ordered . Everything looked amazing so I had to get more than I initially thought of getting .
Then the hype started to die down as soon as I tried each one
The masalada breads were fantastic don't get me wrong but at the end of the day it was just bread with minimal filling. And for $6.50 a pop I expected way more than just that
Apricot almond- not bad but then again all of the filling was barely there
Strawberry - this was interesting as it was more of a strawberry jelly instead of a full cream type like the others. There was probably more strawberry jelly than cream
Yuzu- it felt like more like a lemonade type or flavor than anything which again it wasn't what I was hoping for
Smores- smores was a well done flavor with marshmallow and marshmallow and chocolate inside . Great combo
Vanilla creme brulle- this was glazed all over and the inside was filled with a sweet vanilla cream . Probably one of the best ones
Ube - of course you can't have a great again dessert place without the legendary ube. The ube was fantastic. From the presentation , the flavour as well as the ube filling . It tasted like heaven
If these were priced cheaper , say $3-4 it would probably be better buy but the scarce filing does the masalada injustice. Although its 2 stars, the flavour was on point but the quality of the masalada just wasn't there . I wanted to love it but I can't justify the price point of what you're getting . It ran to $40 for 6 masaladas. I recommend trying one but its on the...
Read moreYum! Delicious malasadas, mochi donuts, and coffee drinks! I wish this place was open everyday so I can grab coffee + maladas before I start my work day, but they open only a few days a week from Thurs to Sat from 10AM until they sold out. I came here on a Saturday before and saw a very long line! So I decided to come here Thursday a little before 11AM. I was surprised to find no line, just one customer ahead of me finishing up. I ordered about 5 malasadas from ube, orange chocolate, yuzu, strawberry, and earl grey. I also got an iced mocha drink which was surprisingly really good and not too sweet. It kept me awake for so long. The indoor space is very cute and the workers were extremely friendly. They rotate their flavors and have special flavors each week!
The malasadas weren't too sweet, and I thought the yuzu was my favorite. I wished the ube had more flavor and the chocolate one was OK. The earl grey didn't really taste like earl grey to us. The yuzu and strawberry were the most memorable ones to us. Lots of yummy cream and fluffy bread. It lasted us for a little over 2 days between the 2 of us. I would love to try their white rabbit flavors and mochi donuts, as well as their other drinks. Definitely worth a visit if you...
