Yes, as good as Ihop is across the country. Bonus, I left a fanny pack, containing ALL our money in the IHop bathroom while on vacation.
We'd had a VERY long cross-country flight, delays renting a car, and after we ate a good meal, son fell in love with the triple creamy caramel pancake stack, "Mexican Leches Pancake." (He said, 'to die for!')
After such a good meal, we were all tired, with less that 6 hours sleep between the three of us! Cranky, tired, and anxious to get to our destination, I reached for my fanny pack...and it was not in the car.... my heart sank, my blood pressure sky-rocketed and I burst into tears. I had left it IN the Bathroom at IHop nearly 50 miles behind us!
Hubby turned around and headed back. I tried to call, but they use an answering service, so after a few calls & blood pressure off the charts, an Ihop employee answered, calmed me down and said to call back in 20 minutes, while he continued to call the "kitchen phone" in Union City while we drove madly back the 50 miles we had just put under our wheels.
I called back, quite skeptical that I would be able to talk to anyone at the physical restaurant but I was wrong! (hubby of 42 years said being wrong was bound to happen at some point... smile)
The waitress who served our table was on the line, and through my tears, I told her what had happened, but she cut in with,"I have it." I had her repeat it again, partly because she had a bit of an accent, and I am hard of hearing. She repeated it and was very clear, "'I have your pack!"
We pulled in & it was close to nine p.m. and at the waitress station in the back was the waitress from our dinner nearly three hours earlier. She pointed to where she had the fanny-pa ck on a table in the back. ALL the cash an ALL the credit cards to fund our entire vacation were there. I was... and still AM... feeling SO blessed. She was so sweet and compassionate... both hubby and I received a hug from her.
IHop saved the day -- as well as the first family vacation we'd been on in more than 15 years.
I am grateful to IHop and our waitress. IHop' at least the IHop in Union City GA, chooses employees wisely. In ADDITION to provided some belly filling "Mexican Leches Pancakes!"
If you are in Union City GA, stop by the IHop on Londonderry Way, you won't be...
Read moreI started this review while I was in the restaurant, we arrived and were told it was a 15 minute wait, it ended up being about 5 minutes. Which was great, however We sat at the table waiting for an additional 15 -20 minutes while a server sat at a table nearby counting money. The server counting the money finally came by and offered. We asked why did it take so long, she said she was off the clock, but she still tried to take the drink order after we had already waited 20 minutes. Why offer to help if you’re off??? She then called for the server that was working that table and she said she didn’t know that was her table/her section.
My friend told the server that was off to not help since she was off the clock. She hadn’t helped since we had been seated and had walked past us a number of times, why offer to help now? We gave the order to the server that was actually assigned to our table.
The server took the order, the order was correct except the Cali Roasted Turkey Melt that should have been served with fries with the side of pancakes, cause that’s what she wanted, instead she was told she could have only 1 side item, as if IHOP doesn’t have a separate side of pancakes. I ordered a spicy poblano fajita bowl, it was not hot, it was room temperature like it had been sitting for a while before it was brought out.
I thought the food that was being eaten in the restaurant would have come out first and as we finished up our meal the food that was being ordered to go, would have been brought out.
Overall we were there for almost an hour and a half. No we did not tip, because the service was not good and the food wasn’t all that good. Take pride in your service so that a tip will...
Read moreRestaurant was not busy and was working with minimal crew so some things were understandably not perfect but the multiple visible finger prints on the booth dividers and windows and general filth noted in the corners and crevices and on the floor not to mention the sign in the parking lot telling customers that the neighborhood is dangerous and imploring them not to leave valuables unattended and visible in their cars were enough to make us cringe. The third star was given because of the very decent despite the situation service that we received from the hostess/server. While the kitchen had tried to pass off one piece of broken bacon for the two generous strips advertised with the meal, which was almost the last straw for my hub, she quickly and professionally handled the situation to his satisfaction and was gracious while doing it, an admirable character attribute that many in the service industry lack. I wish that I could recall her name but I can remember that we were there at 4:30 pm (Union City, Friday October 8th.) while we were waiting on the phone call from the dealership to pick up my car. We were the first in the dining room at the time but there were two other groups of people dining in by the time we received our food. While I understand that there is a labor shortage and supply chain issues, cleanliness should be a priority at restaurants allowing dining in due to the pandemic currently ravaging this country. A gem of server can't totally make up for all the shortcomings in any...
