UPDATE: THURSDAY, APRIL 18, 2024, 5:30PM: I had the pleasure of returning to Ispresso on Wednesday, April 10, for the Book Haven Books Silent Book Club Meetup. The service remains top notch, the coffee super delicious, and those beautiful Aussie Bites. I look forward to returning, as soon as I can.
UPDATE: SUNDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2023, 8:16PM: Ispresso remains a very comfy cafe with a great home-y vibe, with lots of seating, delicious coffees, teas, pastries and foods. Not to mention amazing stuff, one of the cleanest bathrooms in Union City, and a massive commitment to community involvement. I look forward to attending one of their open mike poetry nights, which are on Thursday nights, 7-9PM.
I had this cafe on my Google Maps "Want to Go" list for a long time. My life partner and I went to the Spring Market, featuring Book Haven Books. The first thing my life partner ordered was a honey ginger tea with a shot of Lavender syrup, and I ordered a Dirty Chai Latte and a small bite of something made with oats and apricot, and a slice of a quick bread. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Both my life partner and I were impressed with the variety of merchandise, from food items to art, as well as the eclectic decor. I found it very home-y. I also loved seeing a lot of people who already knew each other, from the neighborhood. Andrew took outstanding care of us and we felt very comfortable in this cafe. The bathroom was very clean and well-stocked, and large enough for comfortable usage. Both my life partner and I look forward to returning again, as...
Read moreI don’t usually write bad reviews, but when an employee tries to make you feel stupid, I have to. If I could give this place zero stars, I would.
I ordered a matcha latte, and the guy put 2 scoops of matcha in a plastic cup, added hot water, and stirred it. No matcha bowl or whisk, but I figured okay, whatever. Then he touched an uncovered straw with his fingers and stuck it in my drink—gross. The matcha color was way off, nothing like the bright green it’s supposed to be. I thought maybe it still tastes good, so I gave it a shot. Nope. It tasted like straight milk, no matcha at all.
I told him the drink didn’t taste right, and he tried to “fix” it by adding 2 more scoops of matcha powder without whisking. Then he mumbled, “I’ve never heard anyone complain; we’re one of the best matcha cafes.” Sure, okay. I asked for a refund, and he refused at first, saying it was my problem if I didn’t like it.
Eventually, he called his boss and gave me my money back but followed me to the door talking trash the whole time. Seriously? Avoid this place unless they get their act together and train their...
Read moreWas here 2 days ago, looking for a change of environment to work and read. I ordered a hot latte and a red velvet cupcake, both of which were extremely good. The staff (lady) at the register was very serious and borderline rude. I asked if they had a chocolate croissant and she immediately said "No, we don't have that". I love going to local coffee shops generally because they provide the kindest service, but was definitely not expecting this. She did not smile at any of the customers, nor responded properly to the conversations that the customers were having with her.
The storefront is very modest and can be deceiving and I was kinda skeptical about the ambience before entering. But I found that the place had a very an unexpectedly good ambience and interiors. The WiFi was extremely slow and terrible and the other customers...
