I dreamed to come New York, from a small town in Alabama. First time visit we decided to stay in New Jersey. Was loosing hope to enjoy the city and a good meal had no idea how expensive it could be, but we found a sweet stranger when visiting the Metropolitan Museum over heard our complaints of not enjoying it as much and finding a good place to eat that was not expensive. Good gracious she came at the perfect time. we were becoming a bit overwhelmed with the City but she made us fall in love, she showed us every part of the museum, took us to a nice cozy french small bistro. I felt like a New Yorker,I felt like I was in an episode of SATC, she so fancy and all but with sweet 🧡.The little restaurant, It was a dream. She told us all the places we should go while visiting and how close we were from our stay to Trattoria. Well i do declare did not disappoint we ordered every suggestion she referred us. The pizza with no sauce very good. Chicken sandwich good too. I give 3 stars, our dining experience was not great, we had to ask several times for dressing they brought our salad with out it and they forgot about our water as well. Overall food was good and the price good too. Before heading back we did order our chicken sandwich, love. We will have fond memories of her unique gift from her shop Viola, we will always connect Trattoria to a sweet person who took the time to make us fall in love with the city, make us fall in love with their place and made us feel...
Read moreI celebrated my birthday this past weekend there with family and friends. We were the party of 8. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed my time there, I believe we all did. The appetizers were very good and for the most part I think everyone enjoyed their entrees, with the exception of myself. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. Visually the dish looked delicious however when I tasted the meatballs that’s when things took a turn for the worse. The meatballs tasted like they were store bought, not made in house. The dish was not very expensive but that doesn’t mean the quality should go down as a result of its price, I’d expect to pay $12-$13 for a spaghetti and meatball dish. I ordered that dish because I really was in the mood for meatballs, however the restaurant lost points with those meatballs. The spaghetti was a little over cooked but I would have forgiven that had the meatballs not been such a disappointment. With that said I’d still return to this restaurant because the appetizers were all very good. I would probably stay away from the meatballs. If I happen to be wrong about the meatballs being store bought then they should consider using better meat. Also I’d like to make a very important suggestion to the restaurant especially during a pandemic, you might want to include serving utensils with appetizers. It’s a simple solution and quite frankly something I was...
Read moreThe food is really good. Very rich, sophisticated flavors but nothing too heavy. Chicken parm was surprisingly tender. The margherita pizza was quite memorable. The limoncello mascarpone tasted a bit overly sweet and artificially flavored. The portions were big, so we took a bunch of leftovers home. I can say that it’s been a while since I looked forward to reheating leftovers from a restaurant.
HOWEVER I couldn’t believe how dirty the place was. The drink menu had LAYERS of food stains on it. There were a couple of flies circling around the door and we saw a baby fly inside too. The floor and table were a bit greasy. The water glasses were foggy. And most unbelievably, there were a lot of food crumbs on the couch seats that could’ve been easily swept off. It’s very confusing to me that it seemed like they didn’t put much effort into keeping the place clean as the above listed details were not difficult to keep away from, maybe apart from the water glasses and flies. Truly, the environment didn’t match the quality of the food and I sincerely hope that they could clean a bit more. On the bright side, the environment lowered my expectations for the food so the food was a pleasant surprise. I really hope the kitchen isn’t as dirty as...
