K On the Go — Restaurant in Union City

I've been a fan of K on the Go for awhile, and even more so since their new ownership. This Vietnamese run shop is cozy and quaint, offering plush seating and belly satisfying treats. The lush flower decor and glittering chandeliers make for an IG worthy setting. But the shop is small, servicing mostly take away orders with seating inside for about 10-12 people comfortably. Their food and dessert menu is only a few months old, so before this event I had yet to try a lot of their offerings. Unfortunately, on the day I attended, the sampler options were not available. I ended up ordering my old faithful, of spicy popcorn chicken. I appreciate that they offer mild, medium and hot spicy levels. I always get the spiciest and the flavor is excellent. Adding a drink to wash it down makes for the perfect afternoon snack. Unfortunately, when it gets a little busy, they tend to forget pieces of the order - like today, there was no spiciness to my chicken.

What I love most about KotG is the ability to adjust the level of sweetness. I do not like my drinks too sweet and I'm a big fan of their milk tea options. But this time I ordered the mango passionfruit tea with boba, which also comes with jelly. It was delightful and refreshing! Exactly what I was looking for on this afternoon. The venue is an adorable hidden gem – perfect for a chill celebration. I was so excited that I brought a friend along to experience it. When we arrived, the person at the counter was super helpful in giving us time to choose from the menu. I opted for the dalgona coffee and a dessert - macaron and almond ladyfinger cake were divine! While my friend got a house milk coffee and the white chocolate raspberry cake. The owners, Justin, Trish, and Lien, were incredibly welcoming and friendly. Their warmth and the lovely ambiance made us decide to stay and enjoy our treats instead of taking them to go. The place itself is small but beautifully decorated with pink flowers, mirrors, and chandeliers – a truly Instagram-worthy spot. It's been six months since this place is open, but the experience has stuck with me. The desserts and coffee were so good that we lost track of time, happily chatting for an hour and a half! The customer service was exceptional; we felt so comfortable and welcomed. Justin, even encouraged us to stay as long as we liked, which was a really kind gesture. What truly stood out was how they went above and beyond to make Mother's Day extra special for the mothers dining there.
