A-Z Experience. The worst food experience! Was craving Goat Pepper Meat and Yam Porridge so bad. Went on line and looked up, they had these things. Website: Not so user friendly. You cannot update quantity in cart. No confirmation that order has gone through.
Arrived an hour later for pick up and called from parking lot across: Was automatically informed that the order did not go through, and she would put it in for me. 30 seconds later, during the same conversation, she had checked and yes, my order was there and ready for pick up. Also ordered beef and jollof rice.
Food: Goat Pepper Soup WITHOUT PEPPER! Have you ever heard of that? I thought that because I met a delivery guy at the parking lot with boxes of pepper, they had possibly run out, but they should have said something! What is goat pepper soup WITHOUT pepper? I fried peppers and added my goat and ate it. It became palatable.
Beef: I opened, and it appeared to have been soaked in boiled whitish tripe water. The tripe may not have been washed well as it had smell of cow dung. Within minutes, everyone in the house asked why the house smelled like dirty diapers and we did not have a child. I still pulled out a piece and tried. It had PEPPER, but that was all. I gagged at the cow poop smell on it and that was the end.
Jollof Rice - ever tried OLD dry chinese fried rice? Old dry chinese fried rice is yummy compared to the stale jolof rice I received. Was mid-day too early that they had to send me away with last night's or days before jolof rice? It was old, nasty.
Porridge - if you do not know what porridge looked like, you would just take the chunks of yam and greens thrown all over - also not seasoned and just eat, you would just assume that this is the worst invention with yams. and never try again. But if you had tried before, you know when food just tastes bad.
IT WAS ALSO PRICEY. Unless this is the only food that can save your life -...
Read moreTried supporting a local restaurant during the pandemic. To start off, we were greeted by a African-American lady not wearing a mask, who comes into contact with everyone that comes in. We go in and sit and wait over an hour for the food. While waiting over an hour, we observe flies flying around the inside of the place. Also observe the maskless greeter going around serving people. Observed the kitchen staff HEATING FOOD IN A MICROWAVE, as part of the kitchen was visible from where the seating was. They said they had too many doordash orders so that is why the food was took so long. We finally get one of the meals after an hour and 15 minutes. 15 minutes later, the second meal finally arrives. One meal is served on a paper plate, the other served in plastic containers. My friend requests a bowl to wash hands to eat with hands the traditional way, and was told by the MASKLESS woman that they don't do that due to covid, while she ignores all the signs in the restaurant to wear a mask. The jollof rice comes out drenched in tomato sauce, as well as the chicken. The rice was soggy. No taste or flavor other than tomato sauce. The sweet plantains were not fresh, and tasted reheated, probably from the microwave located at the front of the kitchen in view of customers. The manager was courteous and apologized for the delay, as well as our Latino server, and both were wearing a mask. Overall, I haven't had worse African food anywhere before, the food isn't fresh, and the kitchen service is slow. The inside of the restaurant was nice, as well as the bar, and had nice big TVs. The outdoor seating area was nice as well, and they seemed to have outdoor heaters for when the weather gets colder. The bathrooms were clean. It might be a decent place to get drinks and watch sports, but if you want good food,...
Read moreFood: delicious! As a non Nigerian it was flavorful. I had the chicken from the grill (stewed chicken in real life) with coconut rice and plantains. The meat was moist and finger licking, the coconut rice had a hint of coconut. I would have loved more of the coconut flavor but it was tasty and the plantains. We're fried nicely; not dry or burnt.
Atmosphere: music great! Makes you want to dance! The level is too loud to have a conversation. My voice was sore after the meal.
Drinks: looks pretty but did not taste like the flavor indicated. I got the mango breeze. Which tasted like cranberry juice. Also watered down. Not worth $11
Service: Slow. They worked at a snail's pace. The server came back several times first to get out order, second to bring our drinks, then again to say hi, again to bring a place mat which got me excited only to wait an additional 20 minutes for the food. When the food came, waited an additional 3-5 minutes to get the cutlery. Smh.
Take away points: food is great, but poor service (waited an hour and a half for food) didn't make it worth the wait. Call ahead and get takeout and you won't be disappointed. And dance to the great music...
