I had this restaurant saved on my list of places to try because of their good reviews and their birria. I brought my family (total of 4 of us) here for lunch, at the time there 3 other open tables out of the about 10 to 12 tables they had. It didn't feel very busy or hectic. By the time our waitress came we were ready to order meals and drinks. We had 2 plates and individual tacos. One plate and one plate of tacos came out and we waited and waited for the other 2 orders. Our waitress never came back to see how things were going, we grabbed her attention and it was evident she didn't even know we were missing anything or what was ordered. I then decided to cancel my barbacoa tacos since it was one more thing to wait on, she didn't even I ordered them (but I saw her write it). There was not a a language barrier because we spoke Spanish and I physically read our items on her paper when she initially took our order and confirmed everything. I ordered birria for the table because I was excited for my family to try it since they'd never heard of it. We were dissatisfied with everything except the drinks (coffee tea, and lemonade). The rice, consome, and birria lacked flavor. The console was EXTREMELY watered down and flavorless, the birria was dry and flavorless. Barbacoa was "okay" as politely stated by my grandfather, who us usually easy to please. My grandmother didn't even want to take tacos home because she didn't like them, and this is a lady who takes everything home. A sweet older woman was very kind and gave them a little dessert because we were there celebrating grandparents day, when we left she walked us out, held the door open for them and guided them down the stairs. It was clean and the other woman was very pleasant, so, there's that. I'm usually very understanding of restaurant service especially given shortages and prices, but this was just all around a...
Read moreI like to try local mom and Pop places I saw a posting with pictures of the food so I decided that I was going to go try it for breakfast on Sunday morning. Upon arriving, everything seemed OK from the outside trying to open the front door It was very hard and you had to yank on it. The restaurant is an old converted house so there is settling and that’s not that big a deal. Open the door smell was so bad. I almost turned around and walked away but by the time I got here I was pretty committed in wanting Breakfast. I never truly got used to the smell. I got the American breakfast, which was pretty good I will admit. Sitting here eating they have music playing on the TV which is extremely loud. I’m looking around the floor is dirty inside the cabinet on the bottom shelf where they have their baked goods is dirty. The air intake vents on the wall are disgusting. There’s only two other tables, besides mine that have people. I understand that the sewage smell might just be something that came up and needs to be addressed, but they shouldn’t open. If it’s going to be like that I would definitely not come back just because they allowed the smell. So I got up to pay and I got a couple of cookies from their little bakery section to try and I asked the girl about the smell and she tried to I guess, pretend like she didn’t understand me and I said is that smell always here, and she kind of giggled and said yes. That was the nail in the coffin for me which is too bad because it was a cute little place and the...
Read moreThis is a family owned business. We talked with the woman serving us, who is so pleasant, and she told us they took over the restaurant 2 yrs ago. It's a small location that packs a great punch. Upon entering the door, you'll see 2 glass cases filled with Mexican pan. We were told we could have a seat anywhere we'd like and they would be right with us. Our host for the night came to take our drink order and I settled for a limonada mixed with pineapple drink. The menu has so much to offer. For dinner I had the potato tacos that are fried to a crispy golden brown. They come with cabbage, radish and onion on the side and for an extra charge, some carnitas on the side. It also came with birria to dip the tacos in. We also shared the Birria Stew. The tacos were delicious with all that came with it! The portions were perfect and the taste reminded me of being back home in El Paso. I don't find those kind of tacos just anywhere. The Birria stew was equally delicious! It came with radish, lime, onion & cilantro on the side if you wish to use. The flavor was exceptional. I took most of it home as it was a huge bowl. On the way out, I purchased some pan. 2 conchas and a pineapple cream cheese cake. The gentleman that helped us told us his mom does all the baking in house. Let me tell you, those are the best Mexican sweets I've had ever! The conchas were ever so soft and the cake was so delicious!! Thank you Birotes for a well rounded meal... I'll definitely be coming...
