I loved Pernicanos in San Diego. It was always a special treat to take a drive to 6th and University and open the doors with mustache handlebars. Ahh, the memories of being a child. Years later, I moved to Seattle and never found a restaurant that had pizza that tasted like the favorite New York style pizzas I grew up with. Papa Murphys was not like the pizzas I loved and remembered. I love a New York style pizza! We are pretty new to Ohio. I have been vegan for almost 6 years. But my doctor had been worried about my weight loss and found it difficult to eat. I can't seem to get above 100 lbs. Granted, I am 5' tall, still it's too much weight to lose. I decided to throw caution to the wind and try to find something off my diet that might help me gain some weight. If my doctor was concerned, so was I. We walked into Geraci's, and it was really inviting and kind of cozy. We were greeted when we walked in, and we had great service. I watched the chefs throwing the pizza dough the air. I immediately remembered standing on a stool watching the pizza " fly up into the air. Magic! The service is great, the bathrooms are clean, their pizza is delicious, and tastes like the New York style pizzas that I used to love. I walked in without an appetite and walked out stuffed. I ate half of the really delicious large pizza! I have been back twice. This is such a delicious, fun way to try and put on some weight. Other than the few pizzas I've eaten in NYC, it's the best pizza I have had in 13 years. It is great, when the food is delicious, the restaurant feels like home, and the staff...

I can not in good concussions rise my ranking higher as I am still not thrilled this happened in the first place, nor am I thrilled about the 20% large party gratuity not being mentioned on the menu or verbally, which lead to some of this confusion, nor am I happy about Alisha's assertion that our group was given the choice to add the extra 18% tip and did so out of confusion (when we were very much not given a choice) but I do think it was a mistake/action taken by our server and not representative of normal business practices.

Original text: Went here tonight with a large group. Food was really delicious, and service was fast and response.

But what really got me was when they brought out the checks, which included both an 18% and 20% gratuity both stacked for a total of 38%

When I first handed over my card I thought the precalculated numbers were suggestions and on the final bill I could put down the actual tip (I was planning to tip generously, around 25%.)

But both precalculated tips carried through to the final bill.

This was not pre-communicated to me and I am very unhappy about this. It was a sour end to an otherwise excellent dinner.

I will likely not be coming back here again because of it and will instead frequent more honest...

i will not be eating here again. the italian entrees were great, however the end of our dining experience turned me off entirely.

my 81 year old mother was curious about the ownership of the establishment (ie, was the ownership related to a local music celebrity) - when she asked her question to a member of the staff, the reaction to the question was visceral and borderline rude. not only that, the employee then immediately gossipped about it to a regular patron sitting nearby - within our hearing range! so we left quickly.

in the parking lot, while helping my handicapped mother in the car, i tripped over a cement parking block and fell down HARD - in plain view of the front window in front of all the pizza making staff. if anyone noticed, no one came to see if we were okay. how can you not see something like that out of a very large window? wouldnt you notice if someone was sprawled out on the pavement in front of your establishment for several minutes? nope, nothing... even after i had to go back inside and use the restroom after my fall. and it might be my imagination, but it seemed like i received some dirty looks when i had to use the restroom.

anyway, as i said, the entrees were good, im just very disgusted by what took place afterwards. thats not a good way to keep casual visitors coming back...
