First Watch — Restaurant in University Heights

First time visiting - overall experience was great! Friendly staff, the place was clean and comfy. The menu is filled with delicious looking meals - there are hearty and healthy options. If we hadn't reviewed their menu prior to arriving, I'm sure we would have spent several long minutes trying to decide. They sell juices, which is awesome! I didn't try any this time, though. 😔

The tables are a bit too close together for my liking but not enough for me to feel like people were on top of me. We came in on a really good day. Per our waitress, the place is normally packed. I believe her - we initially tried going to the one on Orange Place and it looked like a bunch of sardines stacked together. 🤢

The biggest and only downside I have is the wait time - it was about a 25-30 minute wait after ordering our food. Normally, when I'm waiting that long, it sours my experience but I was eager to try the food. I got the Turkey Sausage Gravy Biscuit 😋. Yeah once that came out I forgot about the wait time 😂. Wow it was well worth the wait. And they put so much on your plate! I had eggs and potatoes with it. Somehow, I managed to finish my meal. (Speaking of plates, the dishes the food arrived on were cute and elegant.) My grandmother got the same thing I did (she loved it, could not finish her eggs and potatoes), but my sister got their french toast. It was good, nothing particularly special. Apparently, their jam (which I believe is homemade) for the french toast was delicious.

I can't wait to try other food on their menu, though it would be hard to stray from that gravy biscuit. I think this will be my new go-to breakfast place for take out. Sorry IHOP 🤣

One last thing - the pricing. The size of the meals are worth the prices imo. Pretty standard pricing with the average meal between $10 to $13. If you're going solo it's fine but it can quickly rack up with more people. For the three of us - three meals, two drinks (they also gave us water w/o us having to ask, which I appreciate), and a fruit cup - we came up to $50. $60 with the tip.

I would like give them 4.5 for the small negatives I have but food, wait staff and good vibes trump that so I'll give it a 5. Sorry my sister took pictures but didn't send...

So this isn’t my first time eating here but it DEFINITELY is my last. I’ve never had problems. Today me and my co worker ordered food from doordash. The food finally arrived and I had the traditional with a biscuit. I had a whole plan of making a sandwhich after I wanted for a long time on my food and I was very hungry. I start building and I find a LONG BLACK strand of hair in my food. I’m immediately disgusted and I call the restaurant. Now I know that it is through a third party and I already got my refund but I still expressed my concern to the restaurant that MADE my food because like I said I paid and waited and they made it! I speak to the manager Steve and express my concern. He cuts me off and said yea this is a third party issue so you will have to contact them. I say yes I know that but I’m still calling he cuts me off and raises his voice and said SINCE THIS IS THIRD PARTY ITS NOTHING WE CAN DO. I had to walk away from my desk at work to raise my voice because he wouldn’t let me talk and I say CAN WE PLEASE GET RID OF THE FACT THST ITS THIRD PARTY BECAUSE I KNOW THAT! Can we talk about how your chef got hair in my food. He says are you done? And I hang up because I was fed up with the disrespect and lack of care now one thing about me I don’t play about my food but I really don’t play about customer service becsuse I work in it so I know how to care and treat people. Good customer service can literally fix so much. He didn’t try to make the situation no better he made it worse actually. I just opened the food so it wasn’t my hair and my hair for one is light brown and put back in braids. He never apologized. I never said it was on purpose it could of really been an accident but never the less hair was still in my food and the situation was made worse because the manger Steven had no sympathy or care. Honestly if he would of just apologized and said you know what that is disturbing I’m sorry that happened and tried to fix it, I would of been ok. He did nothing and made it worse to the point that I don’t want to ever waste a...

Tried the coffee..excellent brew. Tried kids meal she said eggs were yummy not plastic tasting! My dad got 2 blueberry pancakes as big as plate.See picture.He thoroughly enjoyed them! I got egg , avacado, gyuere cheese, bacon and arugilla xvoo .spread sandwich..something different and it did not disappoint! Ruby was friendly and efficient. Hostess friendly and knowledgeable. Management on top of busy restaurant lending hand when needed. Over all EXCELLENT experience. Will refer and be back.

So October 15th went back again. Oh my goodness. Tried the BELT with egg, the cook made egg scrambled by accident and they offered make it over hard as menu stated but I said no it was ok.Heaven on multigrain bread.The huge sandwich melted in my mouth.It came with salad or soup since cold day I picked soup....butternut squash with ginger and carrots for sweetness. Orange velvet creaminess in a bowl I drained bowl dry. Had to take half sandwich home with me. I washed it dow with a suggested iced coffee by a friendly impecabbly spot on server.Not hoovering but ensuring my needs were met, a light conversation and fine dining service 5 🌟.
