Maria's Cocina Mexicana — Restaurant in University Place

I recently visited Maria's Cocina Mexicana with a few friends, and sadly, it was not a pleasant experience. The food wasn't great; the chips and salsa were just okay, but nothing special. My main dish was bland and disappointing, which was surprising given the steep prices.

To make matters worse, the service was lacking. Our server seemed inattentive and disinterested, making the evening even more frustrating. My friend's daughter ordered a Mojito, but it wasn't muddled and was way too strong to enjoy. The one saving grace of the night was my Cadillac Margarita, which was well-balanced and refreshing.

Despite the current rating of 4.2, which suggests this restaurant is near a 5-star experience, it falls much closer to a 2 in reality. Overall, the visit to Maria's Cocina Mexicana was a letdown, and I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon. If you're looking for a good Cadillac Margarita, it might be worth a try, but otherwise, I can't recommend it based on...

So I want to start off by saying I liked the food here which is a shame because I will never be back here their service is beyond pathetic. Second time we've been here we were waited by an older gentleman with graying hair friendly at first but messed up our order both times we came in. The first time we ordered a chicken enchilada and shredded beef we got 2 chicken and were given a new one on the house which was ground beef... I shrugged it off and thanked the waiter. The second time we ordered same thing got chicken instead of shredded beef, however this time they had the audacity to say we didn't know the difference between chicken and beef. I honestly cant believe there arent more bad reviews. The past year we've definitely noticed a decline in this place and this was our last straw, we wont be back again. After 4 bites of nasty nachoes (seriously how can you screw up nachoes?) I got a stomach ache. My margarita was pure syrup all the ice was melted. Atleast the green sauce was good but the chips tasted like cardboard I dont know why, did they change to whole grains and serving old chips?? And the service was well, where was our service we had to stop the other waitress for anything. Not to mention my son accidently spelt his drink and got all over the table, well it took like 3 mintues for the other waitress to walk by and ask if we wanted a rag, of course we do we used all the napkins but luckily it all stayed on the table.
