Look - I don't write a lot of reviews - I tend to write only when I've had a day-ruining, bad experience. Well here we are.
Ice cream was fine. Service was good - kids are working hard. But... $6.49 for a single scoop? And your single scoop is the amount of ice cream usually called a baby-size or child-size at other places.
Go ahead and charge $6.49 for your single scoop - but MAKE IT WORTH IT. I estimate my scoop was about 3 ounces of ice cream. For $6.49!
Know what else? Go in and look around - there's no PRICE signs anywhere. Sure when you get to the register you can see a nicely laminated price list on the table. AFTER you've ordered. It's shady and OBVIOUSLY they don't want people to be able to walk in and see these prices, because they are RIDICULOUS and I bet most sane people would walk out.
I've been to other Kilwins and yes I remember they were a little pricey, but $6.49 for 3 ounces of ice cream isn't pricey. It's INSANE.
I guess everyone in Upper Dublin is super-rich because there are a lot of great reviews here.
Again I say - if you want to charge $6.49 for a small ice cream - make it worth $6.49. Don't give me 3 ounces.
PROS : Only 3 ounces of ice cream so ice cream didn't have a chance to melt before being eaten on a 96 degree day.
Only 3 ounces of ice cream so not a bad diet choice if you're...
Read moreI was disappointed when I entered the place , as I could not find the flavor of ice cream which I was craving to have. I have visited Kilwins near KOP and they had Chocolate Toasted Coconut. I was really hoping to have the same in Dublin location.
However me being a fan of chocolate flavor I was glad that I tried their Fudge Brownie. The ice-cream was rich in flavor dominating with dark chocolate flavor , it was bitter slightly which i would totally expect from a good dark choclate. The small pieces of brownie in the ice cream are perfect burst of flavor.
The show stopper was definitely their waffle , oh my goodness , the waffle cone was warm when it was handed over which tells me how freshly these waffle cones are being made. It was so crispy and had a classic subtle sweet flavor to the cone which complimented so well with the fudge brownie ice-cream, so perfectly balanced for my taste buds. This waffle cone is one of the best I had in the whole USA.
I would definitely visit them again even though it’s on the expensive end. I hope they will have chocolate toasted coconut flavor or more choices of chocolate flavors as in...
Read moreKilwins Upper Dublin is a bit of a mixed bag for me. The shop itself is charming, and the service from the staff is genuinely great--they're friendly, attentive, and make you feel welcome. However, the quality of the ice cream and fudge doesn't justify the high prices. For instance, a milkshake costs around $12, which feels steep given that the taste and texture are just average.
Another point of frustration was that prices weren't clearly listed everywhere, making it a bit annoying to navigate the menu and figure out how much you'd be spending. While the atmosphere and service are pleasant, the overall experience is let down by the overpriced offerings that don't quite meet expectations. If you're looking for a high-quality treat, you might want to explore...
