When I saw that a Turning Point was opening near me I was excited to come and try it out. I have eaten at one of their other locations before and loved it. However, this location falls very short in a few key ways.
The first time I went to this location, my son and I walked in and it was packed. Initially I thought this was a good thing as it must mean the restaurant was what I would have hoped. We did not ask to be seated, we just sat at the counter. The food was good and the service was marginal.
The second time I decided to bring some friends to check it out. I spoke very highly of my previous experiences and we went and asked for a table for 4. The young girl behind the counter said the wait was going to be approx 45 to 50 mins (Sunday at 10am). I told my friends that it was worth the wait and we put our name in and stood out side (while it was raining).
60 mins had gone by and I had walked back to the counter and asked for an update. She said it was probably going to be another 15 mins and said there were still 10 people ahead of me. This seemed very odd because there were multiple empty tables AND I had seen guests coming in and getting seated who were not waiting outside or in the front of the restaurant. They may have call ahead seating, I am not sure.
we waiting another 15 mins and then finally decided to leave. It was then another 15 mins before we finally got a text stating our table was ready, but by then we were already on our way to a new spot.
I normally would not write a bad review for something like this. The reason that I chose to do so is because I believe this will continue to be a problem for this location, especially on weekends until management decides to make some changes. If they are suffering from inadequate staff, they should explain to people waiting in line that there are open tables for this reason. If someone decides to wait for over 40 mins to be seated because they like the restaurant, offer a free cup of coffee or something.. or at the very least check in with the people waiting and let them know where they are in the line and that you haven't forgotten about them. If you offer call ahead seating (or even if you don't you should).. tell people this so they can prepare next time.
If you have read this far in the review.. I want you to know that the food here (IMO) is excellent and you will not be disappointed, however service needs to be...
Read moreThis was the first time my family and I went to the Upper Dublin location. We weren't welcomed (as far as I know,) and they were giving us a hard time about where we were sitting; we required a booth since my mother is uncomfortable in a hard chair and she was using a cane. They were being ambiguous as to where we were supposed to go until I flat out asked where they were seating us, that was the first thing. Next, a young girl with hair braids and piercings brought us our water and said that "your server will be right with you" and when I asked who our server was the girl got a bit haughty and rude and said "I don't know she's 'over there'" and walked off. Cassidy was a good server, however, we asked for sugar sticks she got busy with something else and it was probably 10-15 minutes until we were able to get her attention and get some. Also, Cassidy took a good while to bring out our meals, not that I was timing her, but it seemed like a long time and it was a good thing we weren't on a schedule. Cassidy told us that the girl who brought us our water was helping her out, but I mentioned to our server that the girl who was helping her seemed very standoffish and rude. I also noticed water drippings and melted ice cubes all over the restaurant and that is a hazard because someone can slip and fall and my mother could have slipped and fell. I told Cassidy about the ones near our booth, but nothing was done about it and I wiped it up myself (it was near where my mother was sitting, one wrong step, she could have gotten seriously hurt and it's bad enough that she's having a bit of difficulty walking). This location needs to do...
Read moreLet’s start with the good. The French press coffee was absolutely delicious. Probably the best coffee I’ve ever had at a restaurant, rich and flavorful and full bodied. My cinnamon roll pancakes were AMAZING. Not overly sweet. Not dense either, but very fluffy. 2 others in our party got the breakfast skillet with potato’s, eggs, and bacon. They both said it was really good, but pretty salty. The inside of the restaurant was very nice and bright.
Now for the (not bad) but not so great. To get a table, you have to call ahead. So I did, and they said that we’d check in when we arrived and then still have to wait. I was confused and didn’t understand, then, what the call-ahead did? They said, “If you call ahead, it won’t bump you to the top of the list when you get there, but it will bump you halfway up the list of current people waiting.” Never heard of such an odd, fairly complicated setup! Luckily when we got there, there wasn’t a wait anyway. Second, it took over an hour for our food to come. For just 4 people, that was a little ridiculous. And no one, even our waitress l, came by in the meantime to explain the delay. After we got our food though, a manager (I think) did come by to make sure the food was good and apologized that it took so long.
Overall a delicious and high quality place, but who still needs to iron out their overall efficiency since they are...
