Cajun Crackin — Restaurant in Vacaville

Despite the reviews that I have read on Yelp, I decided to try it out anyway. .. 🙄 BIG MISTAKE! When I arrived, the parking lot was basically empty, there were 4 cars, including mine! I was seated immediately and the waitress came over to bring waters. Every drink comes I'm a to-go cup with no lids...you have to ask for that. I asked for a drink menu, the waitress asks me if I have a phone to scan the code. .. I was on my phone at the time so I told her she can leave it on the table and I'd scan. ..well it was her personal QRC that she was nice enough to loan me for a few minutes.

Reviewing the menu. .. no a la carte, not too many options, especially to mix & match! If you like seafood you know you want crab, shrimp and something else. I ordered appetizers, fried oysters (no taste) and fried okra (seasoned and good!)

Fast forward to my family joining we are all deciding on what to order. You cannot substitute fries for onion rings; you cannot mix and match sliders, and again, no a la carte. My dad wanted to try the different sliders so he order one type and I ordered the other so we can swap one out. My sister ordered the king crab build your own bag, my bonus mom ordered wings and fries, and I ordered the combo and was able to so two selections of shrimp because there was nothing else I wanted and clams. If you want headless shrimp thatclass. Food came. .. presentable. The spicy sauce I got was good. NOW. .. I'm looking at the shrimp, taking the remaining shell off, and I see the black line. .. 🤢 I waved the waitress over and ask her if they devein their shrimp -- she asked, "what is that? ...I don't know what that is." Bottom line, the answer was no. I told her that I would not be able to eat it and she said okay and left it on the table. ..fast forward to the bill. .. they didn't take anything off. .. then offered 10% "because it was a combo," then 50%. .. not 100% for a full platter sitting on the table. 🤯 oh and the sliders were eeehhh

They don't have to worry, I will not return and I'll get the rest of my money 💅🏾. .. this restaurant will not be there long like the rest of them that came...

Yesterday I took a friends recommendation to try Cajun Crackin in Vacaville. It was a blind buy, I chose the combo #1, which is a pound of shrimp, a pound of mussels, a pound of clams, few sausage, potatoes and corn for 42.00, I opted to add an extra pound of sausage for 10.00, my total bill was 57.12. I was a little anxious, because I wasn’t sure if I was going to get my money’s worth or if the food was even any good, I just took a chance. My coworker picked it up, and my first impression, I was very impressed at how well prepacked my order was, there was 3 of us that placed orders, each order was bagged separately, labeled by name, tightly sealed in a paper bag. The bag was heavy. Inside was a double wrapped plastic bag heaping full of Cajun smelling goodness. I mean it was loaded, my thoughts were, “this could feed a family of 4 easily” so needless to say I was very impressed by the amount of food in which they give. Then I dug in, the food was very well seasoned, the shrimp were huge like prawns with a wonderful flavor, the bag was loaded with sausages, and so many clams and mussels, I could have added extra potatoes and corn, but even without it was plenty. I ate about a fourth of it, then sealed it back up, upon putting it away, I noticed there were plastic gloves in the bag, a bib, some lemon scented towelettes , salt pepper and fresh lemons, what an added touch, I ate so fast, I didn’t get to use those things, but it was nice that it was included, the quantity, quality and taste of the food far outweigh the price, I feel like I didn’t pay enough. I ordered the crab po boy with Cajun fries. The food was good and reasonably priced and portioned. The service was not very good. My friend ordered an alcoholic beverage. They asked to see his ID. He presented them with one and the waitress looked at his DOB and insisted he was not 21. He told her he was, she looked at it again, and said okay and walked away. A minute later a different employee came to our table and asked to see his ID. He insisted even stronger that he wasn’t 21 even though he was. I spoke up and said he is 21. The employee continued to tell us that he was not 21, because they just can’t do math correctly. I once again told them employee that he is 21 and I had to get out the calculator on my phone and do the math for him to prove to him that he was 21. The employee said okay, walked away and stopped again to look back at our table as though he still didn’t believe us (or the math). I had to ask for my drink to be refilled and when they brought the check out it was not split. I had to get someone’s attention and ask them to split it as well as tell the employee which of us ordered what even though they should know what we ordered. The bad service outshined the quality...
