Big miss today! So I call the location and got no answer, we show up anyway due to Google saying it’s open and according to the reviews they may be busy. It is closed, read the sign on the door which said they were open at the new location at 1201 @1pm. So we walk down and beautiful scene and atmosphere. We were seated and decided we would take Togo. Our order was taken by a new employee which didn’t know much about the menu at all, she even had to ask what was the wildcat sauce. This was a soft opening so there was a small menu. Mind you online it says happy hour at 4pm- 6pm today, is one of the reason we waited until after 4 to go, no happy hour and prices were different from the website. Waited almost an hour for our food, the waitress was everywhere to the point where other waiters saw that we had been there for a while and got no food! It was only 3 tables occupied and after the 2nd table got food the waitress said she was going back to get ours and that turned into another 15-20 minutes. Not sure what was taking so long as we ordered wings and a rib dinner! When the food came the waiter left it at the table and went over to take another persons order, she didn’t bring a ticket and I didn’t even realize the extra side of greens wasn’t in bag. I was really about over it at that point, but my husband said be patient as I know to be. She finally got the ticket and we left! The food was COLD & HORRIBLE! I’m still trying to figure out what took so long and the food wasn’t hot or good! We spent $48+ and about 55 minutes waiting on what!? The wings were cold, hard and didn’t taste like nothing. I sat in the truck and immediately went in and the wings were already cold, I wanted to take them back but my husband said it would only take longer to get them and it was raining! Tasted the collard greens which were overly salty and not good and the potato salad was super sweet and tasted like it had horseradish in it, something threw it way off! My meal was a whole miss, I was so disappointed! My husband had the barbecue with the same sides but with Mac and cheese which the girl said it was a 30 minute wait for but because we waited so long it was ready by the time we got the food which is probably what we waited on when we told her we’d take Dirty rice instead, but Mac not good at all either! Ribs were so so, we ordered the half slab which didn’t have the tips on them, you would have to buy them separate! I’m so disappointed all around, website should have been updated when prices changed, could have left message on voice mail routing customers to the 2nd or new location, and please train staff on at least the menu which took up even more time, and the food really needs to be on point when people are spending their hard earned money. In this case we dealt with so much to get to the food and overall it wasn’t worth it! The new location is very beautiful and nice, however the star of the show is the FOOD, please get it right. I do believe in second chances and I’m willing to give another chance when come back to Valdosta. I found this place on maps a month ago and said when we come here we would eat here. I kept my word but the food and experience was a let down, PLEASE spend more time and attention focusing on the food, if the food was on point nothing else would...
Read moreBorn and raised in Valdosta. Came home for the Valdosta State versus Albany State football game. I was told to go to Big Nick's afterward because they were doing a grand opening of his new Juke Joint. Walked in and was greeted by blaring loud music from a live band. The band sounded great but the music was so loud that to have a conversation I had to literally yell at the person sitting next to me. We walked in at about 10:20 and were seated within 5 minutes. After about a 7-minute wait our waitress came by and we gave her our food and drink order. It took about 10 minutes before we got our drinks. She was 100% honest and told us that they were only serving appetizers b/c they were running out of entrees. We were fine with that as we were not very hungry. Our waitress (Valisite) was amazing and kept checking on us. Around 11:20, she came and told us the food would be out shortly. And I told her to just bring it boxed to go. About 10 to 15 minutes later she brought out the wings for one of the four people that were sitting at our table. She said that she was still waiting for the rest of the food. I told her never mind, just disregard the rest of the food. It had been about 45 minutes or so since we put the order in. I paid her for the wings and all four members of my party gave her a big tip for her troubles and we left. Grand opening or not, from what I understand from my family members who still live in Valdosta, Nick has owned a restaurant before so he should understand how important it is to have a properly staffed establishment with enough inventory to feed the customers. And when it comes to the music, he has to decide if he wants to have a club or a restaurant. I understand the concept of a juke joint, as I have been to many. Your voice should be slightly elevated. You should not have to yell to speak with someone who is less than 24 inches away from you. I hope he gets everything worked out because the location is great and I can see the vision he has for the atmosphere. The menu looked great, the pricing was fair & the waitress was excited for us to taste the gator but the food ultimately never came. I definitely will give it another shot the next time I come home. Maybe I'll make it home for the...
