El Toreo Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Valdosta

Nasty. I do not know what happened to this place. It USED to be good.

I went in on Sunday at 1:00 and it was mostly empty. This should have clued me in.

I was there with my 13 and 17 year old sons (who can eat a LOT!) and my friend who was going back to Argentina.

The chips were stale. The "waitress" could not understand when my son ordered in Spanish. She also could not understand what my friend was ordering (a quesadilla!). She never brought the bowl of jalapeños that was ordered. I ordered a chili relleno and have no clue what that puck thing was on my plate. I even had to pull it apart to search for any kind of pepper at all.

My 17 year old, who will eat just about anything, could not eat his food. And I do not blame him. He ordered combo 13 and it looked like they poured some crap on the plate and then covered it in ground beef. This is the first time I have even seen him decide he could not finish a meal...instead he ate when we got home.

When the "waitress" (and I refer to her as such because she kept sitting in the booth next to us chatting with people) asked if he wanted a box, I told her no because he can't eat it due to him saying it was disgusting. Her response? "Oh." No apology or offer to assist or even tell the manager.

My silly son decided to then try the flan...and this was to be the final good-bye to my Argentinean friend. When it was brought we could not figure out what the heck it was. My friend just stared at it and said flan is not supposed to be scooped with chocolate and whipped cream. $4.50 and my son took one bite. I pushed a spoon into it and saw grease ooze out...I did not make him eat it.

THEN we have the issue of payment. The "waitress" offered to take my check and money to the front. I was paying cash. Guess what. Never saw her again. She never brought my change back and never acknowledged us again.

This place USED to be good. But I will now tell everyone to stay the heck away and hope it hurries and closes its doors so no one else has to deal with the nastiness and thievery of this location.

And let me mention I am ticked that I can not rate this simply as poor or horrible. There is no...

I have always liked El Toreo. With that said our visit tonight was terrible. We walked in the door to an almost empty restaurant and no one said anything to us. The hostess was busy on her phone texting and the other two employees seemed confused as to where they would sit us. After being seated (by the hostess who turned out to be our waitress.) We placed our drink orders and then our food orders shortly after. The waitress seemed in a hurry to take our orders and messed them up several times. Our food was brought out and my order was missing. My wife told the waitress and she stated it would be right out. I waited for 15 minutes and then we noticed the waitress leave the restaurant. She did not stop by our table and give an update or anything... Just left. The waiter who took over for her finally got my order brought out and when he did it was the wrong item. I decided it was not worth it and ate the incorrect food they had brought out figuring it would be an even bigger hassle. Now, keep in mind with all this going on they never offered us refills, napkins, never came to see if anything was okay. We even had to ask for the complimentary chips and salsa they are supposed to bring out when you are seated. The food was luke warm at best - except my wife's (it came out steaming hot).

Once we got done I waited about 10 minutes to see if someone was going to come by and check on us So I could get to-go containers. Nope... didn't happen. I had to find an entire different employee (the bartender) because our waiter was MIA the entire visit. We paid and then the girl who took our money gave the the incorrect change. They never said, "Thank you." or anything for that matter. Our check was $76 and you can best believe i will never patronize this establishment again. For that amount i could have went anywhere else in Valdosta and received better food...

DON'T WASTE YOU TIME AND MONEY COMING TO THIS PLACE!!!!!! WE WERE HERE LAST NIGHT 05/01/2016 WE WERE TRAVELING THRU HERE GOING BACK HOME FROM FLORIDA. WE STOPPED HERE AND OUR EXPERIENCE WAS VERY BAD IT WAS 7 OF US 4ADULTS 3KIDS UNDER 10 AND THE GIRL WHO WAS OUR WAITER WAS VERY IGNORANT AND RUDE SHE DID NOT KNOW HER MENU AND EVERYTIME WE WOULD SAY SOMETHING SHE WOULD RESPOND WITH ''WHAT?'' WHITH A NASTY ATTITUDE ACTING LIKE SHE COULD NOT UNDERSTAND US EVEN THO WE WERE SPEAKING IN ENGLISH.ON THE MENU IT SAID THEY SELL COFFEE AND WHEN WE ASKED HER SHE RESPONDED THAT THERE WAS NOT ANY MADE. I TRIED NOT TO BE RUDE AND DIDN'T NOT ASKED HER TO MAKE SOME FOR US. SHE GAVE MY CHILDREN THEIR DRINKS IN ADULT CUPS FILLED ALL THE WAY AND IT IS COMMON SENCE THAT A 3 & 5 YEAR OLD COULD SPILL THEIR DRINK IF THEY WERE TO DRINK THEM IN THAT CUP, SO I ASKED FOR A TOGO CUP OR SOMETHING WITH A LID SO I COULD GIVE MY KIDS THEIR DRINKS SAFELY AND SHE NEVER BROUGHT THEM. THE FOOD IS NOT VERY TASTY AND NOT AUTHENTIC AT ALL. THE FAN OVER US WAS VERY COLD AND ASKED TO SEE IF THEY COULD TURN IF OFF OR DOWN AND THEY NEVER DID. MY FOOD CAME IN AFTER EVERYONE ELSE AT MY TABLE WAS ALREADY EATING. SHE WAS NOT ATTENTIVE AND NOT NICE AT ALL OUR EXPERIENCE HERE WAS NOT NICE AT ALL I HAVE WORKED IN THE INDUSTRY BEFORE AND THIS CUSTOMER SERVICE IS VERY POOR AND THE FOOD IS NOT GOOD THERE IS MUCH BETTER RESTAURANTS...
