My wife and I came here for our "date night" on a Saturday night. We didn't know about the live music until we got there and it was WAY TOO LOUD! We sat at one of the booths furthest from the stage and still had to scream at each other to be heard, or talk quickly in between songs. We ordered their fried mushrooms as an appetizer. Very disappointing. The mushrooms were a bit soggy and the breading fell off of them easily. We both ordered burgers. The burger wasn't bad, on par with Five Guys, certainly nothing to rave about. The sides were AWFUL. AWFUL!! I ordered broccoli with cheese and cheese grits, and my wife got plain broccoli and "loaded" mashed potatoes. The broccoli was very mushy, definitely overcooked, and not even hot enough to melt the cheese. The grits were without a doubt the worst I've ever had at any restaurant anywhere. They had a very sour taste to them, like spoiled milk. After the second bite I wouldn't eat anymore. My wife tried them and said the same thing, sour taste and a weird, nasty aftertaste. Her broccoli was also overdone, and her loaded mashed potatoes were very runny (almost like a wet potato soup!) and again, they were not even hot enough to melt the cheese. The only plus to the whole experience was our waitress, she was fantastic. Very friendly, smiled, very quick to check on us and get drink refills. She did a wonderful job! I didn't catch her name, but she's a young girl with glasses. We go out to eat very often in and around Valdosta, and unfortunately I have to say I won't be back to Whiskey River anytime soon. The only reason I gave them three stars overall was because the service was...
Read moreVisited:: 01Aug25. My girlfriend and I came here for dinner. The atmosphere was good when people started to show up. It's big and spacious has a pool table, darts and some game that reminds me of beer pong. Music was all country which we enjoyed! They do have weekly specials and also events throughout the week. Our server was good. She was nice and friendly. We ended up ordering 3 different entrees. A smash burger which was our first time ever eating one. I guess it's supposed to be a smashed patty but wasn't really that at all. Lacked flavor which was a bummer because that's another highlight of a smash burger. Entree number 2 was the river dawg. It was definitely not what we expected. Wasn't even that good lacked flavor however the hoagie roll was soft and delicious. Last but not least we ordered the yard bird. It was pry the most flavorful thing out of everything. The edge of it was raw but they did end up taking the whole sandwich off the bill. The fries were delicious according to my girlfriend top 5 I didn't eat any so I took her word. Fried pickles were in point the breading wasn't too much or too little weren't salty and the ranch that was served with it was good too wasn't watery. Macaroni and cheese tasted like it was straight out of the stouffers box disappointing. Onion rings were a little crunchy and overdone. All together the food overall was maybe a 5 out of 10. Going to come back to try their wings...
Read moreWe came in last Friday a little before 5 pm. The restaurant wasn’t busy. There were about 7–8 people at the bar and no one else dining. We sat at a booth, and the server (who also seemed to be the bartender) came over about 2 minutes later. We ordered a sweet tea and two waters. It took 12 minutes to get the drinks, and a young girl, who may not have even worked there brought them out. She carried the glasses against her body, which is a health/safety concern and brought the wrong order.
We waited another 15 minutes with no one coming to take our food order. At that point, my husband and son went to the car. I went up to the bar to pay, where I waited another 5 minutes before catching the server as she headed to the back. She said she was “about to come over,” but by then it was too late, my family had given up waiting.
We left and went to Texas Roadhouse, which was packed, yet we were seated in 3 minutes and had food within 10. I have a feeling we would still have been waiting at Whiskey River for our food. Since their parking lot is usually full, I can only imagine how long the wait would be on a busy night. Unfortunately, for that reason, we...
