Today my family and I came to Mama June’s for dinner. My children have never been and my husband had just come off the road from working so I thought after church we could all go out to eat. This is my second time visiting this restaurant and I loved everything I ate that day! Golden Corral have always been our place to go but since I was in Valdosta that day, we tried someone new! I thought Mama June’s would become our new family restaurant until today! I am so mad, hurt, disappointed, and embarrassed that I’m numb! I made a complaint about my food which is indeed a service provided for the money we spent and not only was I told today, “this business doesn’t do services” but also I wasn’t receiving a refund. The manager have no idea what it took for me to even make such a complaint but I simply couldn’t imagine paying such a price for food we drove from Cook county to eat that wasn’t satisfactory! Then to be continuously insulted, and denied a refund? Then after I asked her to stop talking to me She continued, therefore making me feel threatened! She tells me, no one else complains about the food and never have complained about the food and I was the only one and i wasn’t getting my money back! I felt insulted because I felt she was treating me as if we wanted something free that we clearly have to pay for at the door! I also stated it was our second time visiting and the food was great which made me come back! My kids wanted to go else where! I insisted we come and I ended up leaving upset and hungry. I can understand someone eating the food and then saying it was nasty I want my money back but both the plates I fixed and the cut of tea I had was 99 percent untouched! I wanted to speak with the owner or someone higher than her and after dealing with her aggressive behavior I no longer wanted to report the food but I wanted to report her! Why treat the people who keep the business running like they’re nothing! After I asked her to stop addressing me and to leave me alone, that’s exactly what she should have done! She didn’t offer one apology! No, “I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy your meal, what can we do to make it better”! Nothing but insults! Instead o was told, “No one has ever complained about their food and I’m the only one who have complained today. I was in utter disbelief and how she was treating me as if we were crooks off the streets! I didn’t eat the food because it wasn’t edible and i shouldn’t have to be insulted and compared to everyone else just for her not to treat a customer with some dignity and respect! Yes I want someone to address this matter and yes I want her to understand just how wrong she was to treat someone who was already afraid to complain about the food, as she did! Her behavior was all wrong and definitely made an innocent situation bad! My children witnessed that and so did others sitting around us! I will never go there and won’t refer anyone else...
Read moreI will never eat here again. We decided this would be the place to go for Mothers Day yesterday. I should’ve known it would be a disaster when the tables for larger parties were still dirty. I had to wait for the waitress to come over so that I could ask her to wipe the tables off. When I went to the fix my food there was nothing on the meat bar it was completely empty, but I could hear ppl saying the grease was burning and they needed to change it out(which explains the awful smell that was in the air). I’m standing there with a plate of just sides waiting when someone comes out with just chicken to put on the bar so I grabbed one piece and went back to my table. Soon as I got ready to eat a piece of chicken I smell the burning grease and knew it was still the same burnt grease they’d claimed they changed. It was awful, I couldn’t even finish my plate after that. I asked someone about it and they said they’d changed the grease but that turned out to be false because the next piece of chicken which happened to be another fresh batch tasted the same and this time I grabbed a few pieces of shrimp. Why did I do that it was nasty and by this time I couldn’t try anything else. I’d never went out to a buffet restaurant and left hungry until yesterday. I asked for the manager which said “ok just bring up you receipts and we’ll take care of it for you all”. Her whole attitude changed when my party came up with our receipts “ she was huffing and puffing and squirming and making little remarks about how she’s probably going to lose her job for satisfying unsatisfied customers. By this time my energy matched hers because you’re not going to make me feel uncomfortable for bad food and service, not only was the food bad but the server was bad too I never even got a refill. It’s a shame that ppl paying their money have to deal with bad food and the faces of the business. I’ll never eat here ever again. We drove almost an hour for nothing, and the meat bar never returned they just kept bringing out burnt grease fried chicken and there was some flesh smelling shredded pork beside it. If the management was properly trained they should’ve made the kitchen stop serving until they fixed the problem with the grease, I would’ve understood. Not only did it spoil my appetite but it also made me sick I was in the bathroom...
Read moreI took my daughters to Mama June's and it was a very bad experience. After paying, we went to pick up our buffet plates. The first one I chose still had old food stuck to it. I set it aside and picked up the next one. Same thing. As it turned out, all the plates were either a little bit or a lot dirty. When I brought up the situation to a young man working behind the counter, his first reaction was to accuse me of being paranoid, stating "No one else has complained!"
I was astounded at his insolence. Other customers then also noticed how dirty the plates were and started to complain as well. A manager (I assume) came over and apologized for the young man and the situation, saying that they were training new people (what training is required to properly wash a plate? I asked myself). Another manager (I assume) later approached my table to apologize, which I appreciated. However, when my daughters and I returned 10 minutes later for new plates for dessert--the plates were still dirty, encrusted with old food on either the top or bottom (or both).
Perhaps the Lowndes health department needs to do another impromptu inspection--it turns out Mama June's has failed two health inspections in the past two years. Never again...
