Let me start by saying if not for our server Zoë we would most likely not be returning to this place. As soon as we walked in we noticed they were busy which is a good thing for a new business. There was no one at the host stand to take a name or anything. When the lady came up she didn’t speak to us. However when her friends walked in the door she addressed them and told them there was a 30-40 minute wait and offered to seat them at the next open bar spot. Now a little explanation, we were 4th in line behind an older couple, a family of 4, and a pregnant couple. So when the opportunity arose and she addressed me and my lady. We spoke up and told her there’s a line she should follow before offering a bar table to her friends. Then she tried to place us in front of everyone and we said no seat the older couple. After she walked away the older couple had even told us she seated her other friends who came in after them before. We were still placed 2nd in line but took the seats anyways. Zoë came up to us and introduced herself and took our order. We placed for a godfather, hot honey wings, and garlic knots. Zoë made sure we had drinks apologized for the wait and had a grand conversation. She genuinely took care of us not knowing how much of an impact she would have on our opinions. When the food was delivered she apologized and said that they ran out of garlic knots and couldn’t make a full order so we would get what they had and we would not be charged. She also gave us an order of mozzarella sticks on the house. And let me tell you. The wings were amazing, the mozzarella is the best I’ve had in town, the garlic knots were great, and the pizza was perfection. They even allowed me to make it half with olives and half without. I could not have asked for a better server or better food. So with all this said I really do believe this has the capability to be one of if not the best pizza place in town. But the owners wife does not need to be hostess. Make her manager of floor or operations. But in a spot where this is going to be someone’s first impression just doesn’t seem right. Not to mention the amount of micromanaging was insane. Put someone as hostess who is dedicated to the spot and won’t be doing 14 different things. I respect her for trying to run things smoothly but cutting yourself thin doing 10 things is not the answer. To zoë and chef I give my compliments for making a returning customer out of me and I’ll be sure to pass on the good message to anyone I know in town. And I hope everything gets ironed out with longevity so that I can continue to...
Read moreAfter seeing all the hype on Facebook, we decided to check out Vito's Pizza. The atmosphere was cool, kinda dark inside, but it wasn't overly crowded for a Friday evening. The overall noise level was lower than I was expecting considering it's a bar/restaurant. I won't say quiet, but you didn't have to yell at the person sitting across the table from you. The staff was very friendly and very attentive, I will give them five stars there...but the food was a bit of a letdown. We got our appetizer fairly quickly, fried mushrooms. They were good, but not Wooden Nickel good (locals will know what I'm talking about!). Then we waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. Our pizzas took almost an hour. The waitress said they were pretty backed up with To-Go orders. The pizzas were average at best, 5/10. Not as much of a flavor pop as I was expecting, kinda bland. The pepperoni pizza was just average, nothing spectacular, and the buffalo chicken pizza was disappointing. I love Bleu cheese and it's a damn good thing because it was LOADED with it, but quite frankly it looked like they took a regular cheese pizza and just threw some frozen, breaded buffalo chicken nuggets and a ton of Bleu cheese on top. Now don't get me wrong, it was okay, it just wasn't nearly as good as I had heard or expected...it's better than Little Caesars, but I definitely think there are several other pizza joints in town with better pizzas and I guess I was expecting better, especially considering the $80 bill (4 soft drinks, 1 appetizer, 2 small pizzas, plus the tip). Maybe they were just having an "Off" evening. Unfortunately I would say that in the future if we are in the mood for pizza, Vito's Pizza wouldn't be in my top...
Read moreShort review: The service and atmosphere were great. The food was not great. Ate 1 bite, husband ate 3 bites, we sent it back. Did not get a refund.
Long review: Upon walking in, we were greeted by great people. We were sat fast and were able to order quickly. We ordered a tossed salad, garlic cheese bread, and a large pepperoni pizza with 2 drinks. Total came out to $35.
I was disappointed due to them not having homemade ranch since I feel that is a staple at all pizza restaurants. I got the Italian balsamic vinaigrette and was satisfied. The cheese bread was good. Seasoning and toppings were okay.
What really broke my heart was the pizza. The pepperoni seemed like something you could buy at the store, while the cheese was not creamy and had no cheese pull. The cheese disintegrated in small particles in the mouth. Which is due to the low quality coating they put on some pre-shredded cheese. The sauce overpowered the dough, just too much seasoning paired with the toppings and flavors in the dough. The dough shined through! The crust was beautiful, perfectly thin, and not too crispy.
Because we did not even eat half a piece of pizza, we sent it back in hopes of receiving a refund. Unfortunately, that did not happen. I did leave my opinions on a piece of paper, and the waitresses seemed more than happy to let the cook/owner know.
When I went to pay and told them we did not hardly eat one piece of pizza, I was still told I had to pay. I do understand that people have to run a business, so I'm not angry. I really hope they take my advice since I tend to eat pizza everywhere I travel. I wish this business the best of luck and hope it improves in the future....
