Mr. Maple Donuts — Restaurant in Vancouver

GLUTEN FREE DONUTS at Hazel Dell location are why I decided it was time for a donut. It's hard to find fresh gf donuts so I was excited. I had called ahead to make sure they had gf (highly recommend this) and they did! They had white cake donuts with chocolate icing, maple iced, and plain. I ordered two of each (for research!) and I requested that the plain be vanilla frosted with sprinkles. When my husband and I arrived my box was packed and ready and he just needed to choose his. The two women behind the counter were helpful and smiling. There was a family in the store at the counter when we entered and clearly marked distancing stickers on the floor. Everyone was wearing masks and there were signs to ensure everyone was safe. Were the donuts good? Both my husband and I tasted donuts that were really fresh, soft and yummy and donuts that were not as fresh and soft. His double maple was not very fresh and somewhat stale but his boston cream was really good. My chocolate frosted were inedible as anyone eating gf knows our breads can get a mealy, sand-like texture when it'saged. The maple flavoring was meh for me. Having said that, my vanilla frosted were AMAZING. Do they taste like regular flour donuts? No, of course not. Are they a really great gf donut? Yes! Texture was soft and chewy and the vanilla was a great flavor. For me it's all about being included when we want to go get some food. When we want donuts we will no longer head to our local shop (Donut Nook which is amazing too) but will drive a bit farther so I can get GF. Thanks Mr.Maple for making this gf mama feel included. It really seems to depend on who’s working. Sometimes you get everything you ordered, and sometimes you end up with items you didn’t ask for. Definitely check your order before leaving. This time, I received three donuts I didn’t order, and last time, there were duplicates. If an item is unavailable, they should let you know in-store so you can pick something else.

Also, when ordering online, you can’t choose the premium donut you want, which I find strange considering there’s an up charge for it. I’ve mentioned this in-store a few times, but staff still just pick one at random because the 'special notes' option has been disabled (manager/owner needs to change this online).

When ordering online, you are not able to choose multiples of the same donuts. This stinks when several people want the same donut.

Another thing to note: The pick-up time on the receipt is often 10 minutes off. If you choose a time like 8:00–8:10 AM, it’ll show that on the website, but the receipt will say 8:10–8:20 AM. I don’t mind waiting if the donuts aren’t ready, but it’s something to be aware of. Overall, I prefer this location to the Mill Plain one since the main lady here is always polite...
