THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! 3 weeks ago, I walked in to Dulce Tentacion with a picture of a unicorn cake we wanted for our daughter's Unicorn themed Birthday Party. On the day of the party, my mother, to ease my stress offered to pick up the cake on her way to the party. Unfortunately, on her way to the party the Unicorn melted off. Instead of keeping it in the front of the car with someone to hold it, she kept it in the trunk while it was 90 degrees outside. I had a panic when she got to the party, I had paid $150 for a cake that was sitting in front of me in a trunk melted.. I blame only myself for allowing someone to pick it. But upon calling the bakery, he told me to come back and they'd try to help us. I was so frantic as the party was in 30 min and i had no cake nor was I even at the party anymore to greet guests. I sped to the bakery and upon arrival, told them i didn't care about the unicorn anymore. I asked if they could just remove the top portion and fix the frosting on the bottom, i'd pay for it, and be on my merry way. Instead, they graciously offered to fix the entire cake but asked that I return in 2 hours to pick it up. The taste of the cakes alone are to die for & this was the 2nd time we purchased for a party. Our guests all loved it, and just hearing what the bakery did this day, and seeing how beautiful the cake was when it finally made it to the party, had every guest asking where the bakery was located so they could order future cakes from them also. THANK YOU...
Read moreSince Monday I tried to talk and communicate with them to place an order for a cake and they never answered me, they give me the wrong information and I decide to went to the store personally. We are only 6 people in my house, I wanted a small cake and specific kind that my son wanted. They didn't wanted make my cake frome the beginning, because they put every excuse they could, not to makeit, the owner told me that the small cake for 6 people would cost me $400!!! YES, you hear right $400.00 dollars, I laughed and told him that if it was serious and he said yes, I decided to choose a cake from the display case and I asked him for an exact cake that he had in the showcase. Yesterday I went for my cake I was totally disappointed because the cake was nothing to what I was supposed to get and I mentioned to the owner that it was not the cake I ordered, he said that he told the workers what kind of cake I wanted but apparently they did what they wanted the owner said that he would return the money since the cake was not what I asked for! And I asked him that if he was serious, that if he wasn't going to fix it and he said no, that he would return the money to me and I replied that I would not leave my son without his cake! What an ugly service they do not know how to give good customer service , they did not even offer me a discount for what happened. NOTHING!!!!!!!! THEY EVEN WANTED TO LEAVE MY SON WITHOUT CAKE! Read moreI remember fondly my time in Mexico and the morning run down to the neighborhood bakery, with their friendly manner and sense of pride. This, was not that. I suppose I was spoiled, not so much by the pastries, I will admit when in the states my expectations are low, but by the tiny selection.
Sweet Market simply didn’t have the kind of selection I have become used to from the many other Mexican groceries. They certainly didn’t have my standard favorites.
As a side thought, this is the only Mexican bakery I have been in where you are not given a bag to hold your selections. You take them out and carry a tray, which makes me nervous as I am old and a bit unsteady on my feet.
I mean, it is what it is and maybe it fits comfortably into a small neighborhood niche, but this does not do it for me. If the pastries had been extraordinary I might have felt more magic in the tiny place, but it was just standard, kind of dry and uninspired.
And I must say, I didn’t feel particularly welcome. In Mexico I never went into a bakery without being greeted with kindness and pleasure.
I suppose that to some extent how they choose to present themselves is none of my business, it is their space and I am only passing through, but in the panoply of Mexican offerings in this city, there is nothing here to...
